Uniclass2015_Ac.csv data is missing from Uniclass2015.csv. Solution: fix an array in convert.sh
Filed a RFC today here: https://www.thenbs.com/support/nbs-beta-test-programme/report-a-uniclass-2015-issue
Hello.
Currently, PM table holds the classification about PM roles and activities. After July 2017 Update, there is an overlap between PM_30 and Ac_05. Maybe it's clearer to move all PM activities to Ac, PM information to FI and rename PM to Roles table.
Best Regards,
Tormi Tabor
We will be using 20170426 as release number.
LATEST UPDATES (APRIL 2017)
This April issue is the next in the three-monthly updating programme. The Uniclass 2015 tables were last updated in January 2017. Between updates, we liaise regularly with a growing number of individuals and organisations using the tables to provide further information and assist with requests for new codes. The April 2017 Update features minor changes to seven tables in response to user requests, respecting the need for a period of stability and minimum change to assist adoption of the Uniclass 2015 classification.
We have been working with the Environment Agency to assist their adoption of Uniclass 2015 as part of the BIM level 2 strategy. There are new codes for flood defence throughout the tables and some amendments to the existing codes, e.g. Reservoirs and Tidal barriers have been moved to the Complexes table from the Entities table. We are continuing our work with the Metropolitan Police to classify all their spaces and assigning activities where appropriate, which has led to the introduction of further new codes in the Spaces and Activities tables. Our work with the manufacturers who supply Transport for London has continued. Further Uniclass 2015 codes for the products supplied for the maintenance of London Underground have been added which will benefit others working in rail. The estates department at University of Birmingham have requested some additions to the Tools and equipment table which will be of general use. In the Products table there are a number of additions as a result of feedback from users and new technologies.

LATEST UPDATES (OCTOBER 2017)
Following the publication of the Project Management table, the October issue of six of the Uniclass tables is the latest in the three-monthly updating programme. The Uniclass 2015 tables were last updated in July 2017. Between updates, we liaise regularly with a growing number of individuals and organisations using the tables, to provide further information and assist with requests for new codes.
The October 2017 Update features minor changes to six tables in response to user requests. Our work with the manufacturers who supply Transport for London has continued. Further Uniclass 2015 codes for the products supplied for the maintenance of London Underground have been added which will benefit others working in rail. In particular we are working with the ICT department to add codes for train dispatch and monitoring.
We are also discussing drainage with representatives of Highways England and some new codes have been added as a result, particularly some locations.
We are grateful to all the organisations we have worked with for their input to the Project Management Table. As we share details of this activity, industry professionals can learn more about who else is using the tables, for what purpose and the range of changes to expect and why.
The work of maintaining and enhancing Uniclass 2015 to continually support the needs of those operating in the built environment is an ongoing exercise. We welcome comment and input from all sectors in the construction industry via [email protected].
Project Management Table Published Status
Following an extended period of consultation, the Project Management Table has now been published. Those who have downloaded or used the previous ‘draft status’ table should replace with this first published version which has been substantially amended to reflect feedback from a range of industry professionals including Royal Holloway College, Environment Agency, Highways England, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Defence.
The Project Management table consists of Uniclass 2015 codes which provide a structure for organising digital information.
Also included is a list of roles and personnel which relate to those in PAS1192:2.
Together with the recent revisions to the Activities table, the Project Management Table provides assistance for organising office processes.
The Project Management is of benefit to anyone in construction industry from clients, asset managers to designers and installers who are involved in designing, constructing or managing construction projects or built assets.
Beta versions
The Uniclass 2015 table currently available in beta version is Form of Information (FI). The status of this table is under review following the publication of the Project Management table.

The initial classification provides 7 core tables:
- Complexes – the overall project such as a university campus.
- Entities – such as a building.
- Spaces / locations – such as a space in a building where an activity takes place.
- Activities - the activities to be carried out in the complex, entity or space.
- Elements - the main components of a structure or a building such as walls or roof.
- Systems – a collection of components that make an element, such as the components of a roof.
- Products – the products that are used to construct a system.
Codes within the classification system consists of four or five pairs of characters.
- Table.
- Group.
- Sub-group.
- Section.

The January issue comprises updating activity across seven of the Uniclass tables. This is the latest in the three-monthly updating programme which follows the October issue and publication of the Project Management table. Between updates, we liaise regularly with a growing number of individuals and organisations using the tables, to provide support and assist with requests for new codes.
The January 2018 Update features some additions to the Complexes, Entities and Spaces/ location tables as a result of input from the Southern Regional College in Northern Ireland and the Environment Agency. In addition, our liaisons have extended internationally to colleagues using the Uniclass tables at Transport for New South Wales. The Products table includes modifications and additions of note in relation to rail track and communications following work with the track and communications departments at Transport for London. Discussions and support in use of the codes continues with the manufacturers who supply Transport for London. New codes for the water industry also feature in this Update thanks to recent activity with representatives of Northumbrian Water Ltd.
In response to user feedback, this Update also addresses instances of duplication within some tables accompanied by a process review to prevent this occurring in the future. Users should refer to the revision sheets to check which code has been retained and which has been deleted.
The January Update is of particular benefit to construction industry professionals working in the rail and water sectors. Anyone using a previous version of the tables should also check the revisions sheets for updates to ensure they are referring to the latest codes.
We are grateful to all the organisations we have worked with for their input. As we share details of this activity, industry professionals can learn more about who else is using the tables and what purposes they are using them for, and the range of changes to expect and why.
The work of maintaining and enhancing Uniclass 2015 to continually support the needs of those operating in the built environment is an ongoing exercise. We welcome comment and input from all sectors in the construction industry via [email protected].
The Form of Information (FI) table is currently available as a beta version. The status of this table is under review following the publication of the Project Management table. Anyone wishing to feed into its development can do so via [email protected].
Status and revision information is available alongside each Uniclass 2015 table. Each information sheet (pdf) provides a summary of the changes made, as well as code-by-code details.

In Uniclass2015.csv
, the Spaces/Locations row has a Sl
instead of an SL
for the code. The Uniclass2015_Tables.csv
file also has the problem.
If you look at the code for Spaces/Locations items, they all use SL
.
What would be the single biggest improvement we could make to the classifications within the BIM Toolkit?
My suggestions mostly touches Uniclass2015 change management:

This January issue is the next in the three-monthly updating programme. The Uniclass 2015 tables were last updated in October 2016. Between updates, we liaise regularly with a growing number of individuals and organisations using the tables to provide further information and assist with requests for new codes.
The January 2017 Update features minor changes to all tables in response to user requests.
We have been working with the Metropolitan Police to classify all their spaces and assigning activities where appropriate. This has led to the introduction of new codes in the Spaces and Activities tables. Whilst some of the spaces and activities are unique to the police and prison service, there are spaces and activities including stables and tack rooms that are of wider industry note and benefit. Our work with the manufacturers who supply Transport for London has continued. Further Uniclass 2015 codes for the products supplied for the maintenance of London Underground have been added which will benefit others working in rail. We have also carried out a review of cables and products used in Surveillance Systems and Access Control Systems. As a result there are a number of new Products included which will be of particular benefit to those involved in the installation of electrical services.
We are grateful to all the organisations we have worked with for their input. As we share details of this activity, industry professionals can learn more about who else is using the tables, for what purpose and the range of changes to expect and why.
As mentioned in the October 2016 update, we have now amended the title of the Construction Aids (CA) table to Tools and Equipment (TE) and published the table. This is to acknowledge that many of the objects in this table are applicable to maintenance as well as construction.
The work of maintaining and enhancing Uniclass 2015 to continually support the needs of those operating in the built environment is an ongoing exercise. We welcome comment and input from all sectors in the construction industry via [email protected].
The Uniclass 2015 tables currently available in beta version are Form of Information (FI) and Project Management (PM). The early-2017 publishing date for these tables has been extended slightly to enable a full review of the comments received during recent consultation.
