Tiny Forecast -- put the BOM forecast for Sydney on an Arduino

Goal

An always-on display that shows the current forecast for Sydney from the Bureau of Meteorology, updated hourly.

Required

  • Wifi-enabled Arduino -- tested against Adafruit ESP8266 Feather
  • Display -- tested against Adafruit Feather OLED display
  • Hosting for server-side component -- tested against AWS Lambda + API Gateway

Method

  1. Install lambda_function.py into AWS Lambda, create an API Gateway trigger, and copy the URL.
  2. Update your wifi SSID, password and the Lambda URL in credentials.h.
  3. Connect the board and the display, and upload the code.
