The Controller class starts a thread from which it polls the state of the controller. On macOS, this is not allowed, and causes an exception.

A workaround is to make start_polling call loop directly, and not create a second thread at all. I'm not sure if this has any ill effects, as the program can still be killed with ⌘Q or ⌃C.

Just a note in case anyone has difficulty, pygame relies on SDL which can be installed with Homebrew.
