pat-on-a-pi's Issues

IC 705 Not Keying properly

Great program but issue with keying being too quick, i.e. Transmit bursts are too short to make connection to Winlink stations. Also too short to key linear Amp connected to 705.

Keep helper script window open on fault

There are times when a fault occurs, preventing a successful startup. In this case the terminal window closes without displaying any information. If possible keep that window open, and display a reason for the shutdown. Perhaps suggesting pressing enter to close that window once the message is read.

Script failing to connect to /dev/ttyACM0

I do have a Raspberry Pi 4 with the Build-a-Pi image from KM4ACK. This is connecting my Pi to my IC-705 where I'm able to use apps like Flrig and JS8Call. I tried installing your script there but it was failing to start with the following message:

"Could not initiate connection with rig on /dev/ttyACM0. Quitting."

I then created a fresh Raspberry Pi image with just your script installed and got the following message:

"Could not initiate connection with rig on /dev/ttyACM0. Is it plugged in, with the correct CI-V address set?"

I know the USB cable works correctly as I'm able to control my IC-705 through the original image from Build-a-Pi. Let me know if there is additional troubleshooting I can do or logs I can look into.

Regards,
Kyle

IC-7100 Config Changes?

I'm trying to set this to work with my IC-7100, as it's my sole radio.

Thus far, I've found that if I change the rig value to be 370, baud to 19200, and swap /dev/ttyUSB0 for /dev/ttyACM0, I can get further.

It seems that I'm getting hung up on the audio interface aspect with the error

"ALSA lib pcm.c:2565:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM ARDOP"

Aplay yields positive results
aplay -l |grep 'USB Audio CODEC' |grep -o 'card [0-9]*'
card 1

manually setting the amixer values seem to work

amixer -c 1 set PCM 59%
Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
Limits: Playback 0 - 128
Mono:
Front Left: Playback 76 [59%] [-52.00dB] [on]

Changing how ardop is invoked manually seems to make things "better"

killall ardopc
then
ardopc 8515 plughw:1,0 plughw:1,0

gets me output info

I can hear data in the background, when I have the radio tuned to that frequency, although it is faint.

Tried a few stations, and always the same. The connection times out.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Feature: Support other rigs

Currently, these scripts only support the IC-705. With a little bit of extra work, they could be upgraded to support other hamlib rigs and audio interfaces.
