Install add-on via repository - provide automatic installation of updates:

Reference table of high resolutions

This table explains in brief the availability of high resolutions between devices and operating systems. This may change over time based on changes made by Netflix itself.

Unlike official apps (on Smart TV or certified TV Boxes) in some cases using this add-on there are some limitations. Here Netflix could provide the same TV shows/movies with lower resolutions, this mostly depends on the type of system/device in use. Devices with more limited resolutions are all those that use Linux operating system (certified Android excluded). Even between different Linux machines there may be differences.

In order to have a better chance to have high resolutions, we suggest to use the following operating systems:
Windows (x86/x64), MacOS, Certified Android (better with Netflix certification)

Notice for the use of auto-update and auto-sync with Netflix "My List" feature

AN INTENSIVE USE OF THIS FEATURES due to many exported tv shows MAY CAUSE A TEMPORARY BAN OF THE ACCOUNT that varies starting from 24/48 hours. Use at your own risk.

If it happens often, there is the possibility to exclude the auto update from the tv shows, by open context menu on a tv show and selecting Exclude from auto update.

Something doesn't work

Before open a new Issue and engage the developers, please try to find your answer on other channels like: old closed Issues (on Issue tab), the Wiki pages or ask in the Kodi forum.

If you have encountered an error or misbehaviour:

1. Open add-on Expert settings and turn on Enable debug logging setting, then press OK button
2. Enable Kodi debug, go to Kodi Settings > System Settings > Logging and enable Enable debug logging
3. Perform the actions that cause the error, so they are written in the log file
4. Open a new GitHub Issue (of type Bug report) and fill in the page with detailed information
5. Attach/link in your Issue thread the log file is mandatory (follow rules below)

Rules for the log:

• You can attach the log file or use a service like Kodi paste to make a link
• Do not paste the content of the log directly into a Issue or message
• Do not cut, edit or remove parts of the log (there are no sensitive data)

When the problem will be solved, remember to disable the debug logging, to avoid unnecessary slowing down in your device.

Why my Issue is labeled with ?

This happens when the guidelines for compiling the Issue thread have not been followed. Therefore if the information will not be filled and or changed in the right way, the Issue post will be closed in the next days.

'All Movies' and 'All TV Shows' folders should reflect Netflix genres

Description

The content of the folders 'All Movies' and 'All TV Shows' seems inconsistent/random, it often does not include major genres (like Sci-Fi) and rarely reflects the genres offered on Netflix's website (as seen below).
I believe we would have better accessibility to the catalog if those folders were (at least) coherent with the ones from the site.

Search function choking on 'Tidying up with Marie Kondo'?

Description

I know, it sounds silly. But the girlfriend's watching it on her laptop :-)

The search function in the main menu does not show any results. E.g. Marie Kondo has a show on Netflix, but typing her name into the search function doesn't list the show as a result, nor does it with 'Tidying up', which is the title of the series ('Tidying up with Marie Kondo).

It's pretty weird since e.g. inputting 'Luther' (which is also on Netflix) will show Luther on top of the results. So not sure what's going on here.

1. Open Netflix search function in the plug-in overview (after you selected the user)
2. Search for 'Marie Kondo' or 'Tidying up'

System freeze on playing any episode of a particular series

Description

Right after the addon was installed tried to play S01E02 of Love, the addon prompted me to
install widevine from ChromeOS. I started it then after half an hour later it was still busy (the
circular loading animation was still going on the middle of the screen) but the top right corner
indicated that the episode has started and it is playing. I left it like that overnight (~12h). Next morning it still did the circular animation so I restarted the whole system. Tried to play some episode of Rick and Morty, and it palyed fine. Then I tried to play some episode of Love and it did the same, circular loading animation, play indicator on top right corner, but it was not able to play the video again. so I tried to stop the video that was "playing" and the whole system freezed.

Later I tried several series (incl. Rick and Morty, Stranger Things etc.) and all worked fine, but it can not play the episoed of Love.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Try to play any episode of the series Love
2. Let it buffer a bit, wait for the playing indicator to show up on the top right corner of the screen
3. If it can not play it exit back out (note that the play icon is still on the top right corner)
4. Make the "playing" video fullscreen and try to stop it. (Or just stop it via webui or andriod app.)
5. freeze

Expected behavior:
play the video
Actual behavior:
freeze
Still can be rebooted over SSH so I suspec that just the kodi froze.

Other information

Originally had the asciidisco Netflix on Kodi 0.13.22 plugin installed using repo. Could not get it to work as when I click on a video nothing happens at all (tries to load but nothing happens). I uninstalled that and installed from this repo (download and installed from zip).

Can't get movies with SD 540p Media-flag to be streamed at higher resolution.
Most movies have SD540p Media-flag.

Missing a lot movies from the list

Every time I run kodi, or when the widget (a shortcut to my list) refreshes, I need to log in again. the problem appeared in the last or the last but one version of the daily.
The widget starts up before the information about logging in to netflix appears

It allways stop in the proccess and never finish.

If I sync the series one to one "adding it to library". after 10 or 15 series. the netflix account is blocked.

Which is the metod to export the library? maybe is much agresive and lock the account?
i dont know :-(

Sign off button in settings of plugin don't work. The settings dialog disappear immediately when I try to use the sign off button. The change account button is missing. Only a notification appears. Something like watch log file for further information.

Trying to remove a movie named "Elizabeth : l'âge d'or (2007)" from library triggers an error "UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 98: ordinal not in range(128)"

The accentuated character " â " is causing the problem, as " é " or " à ". I assume all accentuated caracters are.

Maybe tv shows have the same problem? Couldn't try yet.

The problem occurs at the same videos and at the same time of the video each time, for example, at Luce Cage TV Show, episode "Manifest" after 30 seconds of play. If i scroll backwards or forward the video then it resumes playing normally. I suspect it is some kind of buffering problem, but it only occurs on the Kodi Netflix plugin and not in the Android app. I am not sure if it is a Netflix plugin error or an inputstream adaptive error

Disabled (standard) it generates the error AddonSignals call timed out.
Enabled it generats the error the background services may not yet be available

With the standard settings (IPC over HTTP disabled) it generates the error "AddonSignals call timed out" (kodi_log1). So I decide to enable IPC over HTTP. At startup it generates the error "The Background Services may not yet be available" (kodi_log2).

Installed the latest addon 0.14.0~beta23. Uninstalled the old one, reset the computer and installed the latest.

On startup it give Netflix Addon Error, background services not started. It does this with everything where a connection is needed to Netflix. In the error log, you can see that the logged-in status is none. But I don't get the chance to enter the login details anywhere, as it right away gives the Netflix Addon Error, background services not started.

Trying to migrate library to new format, in settings, if movie/series name has a non ASCII character, the script will stop with a UnicodeDecodeError as the files are written in UTF-8, but read() method seems to load it as ASCII.

1. Have in your library directory files in old format that have non-ascii characters in its name
2. Enter Addon Settings
3. Choose page Collection
4. Click on "Migrate Library to new format"

Expected behavior: All strm files are migrated from old format url to new format

Actual behavior: In old format, url is on second line, and the first line is a comment with the movie's name. If it is a foreign name, chances are there are non-ASCII characters. If so, and UnicodeDecodeError appears in a popup window (Addon Error), and the migration stops on that folder.

Just a decode('utf-8') on the file read string solved for me. Probably in old style, the file is written in UTF-8, but the .read() method reads as ASCII, so the method .split() throw errors on non-ASCII chars. Will send a PR.

library.ndb2 has disapear

Description

Exported shows are not shown anymore in the addon, list is empty, but the strm files remains present on the remote nfs share hosted on a synology drive.

I can't yet determine why, but the library.ndb2 is missing in addon_data/plugin.video.netflix folder.

If I restore a copy, the shows are displayed correctly, as when the file was backuped after exporting the shows.

I had the problem multiple times, but I can't tell yet how to reproduce the issue. I keep trying to understand what's happening.

Maybe it could be related to a storage timeout as my shows are exported on a nfs share hosted on a synology drive, and it can take up to 20/30 seconds for the drive to wake up?

Description

On a TV BOX Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 GPU: Mali-450 (A95X R2 - 2GB ram 16GB eMMC android 7.1,2) original Netflix app is working at a too low quality. KODI 18.1 32 bit and the plugin works fine (always 960 x 540) but every minute or so stops buffering. Netflix speed test (fast.com) always gives more than 15mbps and video is streaming at 0.5-2 Mbps @960x540 using a tethered connection. Even trying at a different time with a different tethering device when fast.com gives 40+ Mbps video keeps stopping to buffer (with the round buffering icon on the screen).

maybe I'm missing something obvious since I'm new to this plugin. Is there a buffering setting I can modify somewhere. Description

Since today (but I did not used the extension for a little while) I cannot access any of my Netflix profiles. When I select one and try to enter I get a popup error.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to the Netflix extension
2. The accounts are listed
3. Select a profile and click Enter

Enter the profile.

Actual behavior: [What actually happened]

A popup with a "KeyError: u'lolomos'" error.

Other information

Non-Netflix content through Kodi does passthrough correctly, so it's not a Kodi issue. The Windows Store Netflix app also does passthrough, so it's not Netflix itself or my PC.

I see the log shows "Creating audio stream (codec id: 86056, channels: 6, sample rate: 48000, no pass-through)"

It will be a lot easier to keep updated to release using release github page
or, even better, using Kodi Repository, instead of releasing by mediafare external page.

Some audio stream don't work.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina", first episode.
2. English audio stream doesn't work

In some episodes the english stream doesn't work, but it's not always the same.
Episode 1: english, italian, spanish not working
Episode 6: spanish and italian not working

These seem to change over time.

KeyError "lolomos"??

I am using this plugin on 2 Raspberry Pi 3's. I had reported a few weeks ago, I believe, that the current build at the time (v0.14.0~Beta22 20190308build2) was working fine. It was good for a few days, then something changed and it stopped working right. I'm not sure how or where. Because I have 2 Pi's, the problem is very bizarre because it works on the device in my bedroom (primary profile) but not the one in the living room (secondary profile/for Dad). Both devices are on the exact same OS, using the exact same skin, and the exact same credentials. The only difference is that he's using his own profile.

When he reboots and starts up the Pi, it starts LibreELEC (latest version 9.0.1) and then Kodi. After a short while, maybe 10 seconds, it pops up a notice that the Netflix Background Services had started. I had to enable this for him because he's impatient and wasn't waiting long enough for Netflix to login before going and trying to watch something. Anyway, after that pop up, he'll go and try to open the Netflix addon. After maybe 2 seconds, he gets this error:

KeyError: lolomos

It then reports that it logged this to the Kodi log file, and his only option is to press [OK] button. After doing so, he's back on the main screen. Netflix never loads. He's been trying this over and over again for like 3-4 days now. At first I thought maybe it lost my login credentials, so I had him go into the settings and sign out. We then rebooted and signed back in. It says Login Successful on the screen at that point. The Netflix addon then loads up the list of available profiles. Once he selects a profile though, the error pops up again. Just today I came home from work and we tried again with forcing a new login with my credentials. Then I thought maybe the problem is with his secondary profile, so I had him pick mine instead. Once again, the error pops up. I'm completely lost on how to fix this now. I mean, it works fine for me!

I had him turn on the debug logging then reboot. Once up I had him go and try Netflix again so the error would get logged. We then shutdown. Here is the log in it's entirety:

The first line of lolomos comes in on 1323, with the full blown crash at 1333. Any ideas on what could be causing it? Anything I can do to fix it? I'm actually going to try a down and dirty uninstall/reinstall again (after uninstalling, verify no paths remain).

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Not just from my Dad (so he can watch his shows again) but from me as well (so I don't have to keep listening to him complain about it every day lol!).

Audio Described Genre with Date Added Sorting

First let me say how much I love your plug-in. I'm visually impaired and having the ability to access Audio Described movies and TV shows being offered by NetFlix through my Kodi v18.1 setup is so darn convenient.

I don't even have to manually select the Audio Described stream, it comes up playing automatically when I select content that has an AD audio track available. Guess because I have the "Accessibility" option set to "Yes" under Kodi -> Settings -> Player Settings -> Accessibility -> Prefer audio stream for the visually impaired?

I'm hoping you can add an "Audio Described" option under the Genre menu for the NetFlix plug-in?

Also is there anyway to make the plug-in display all found listings sorted by date added: not alphatize them? Would make it much easier to locate any newly added Audio Described content for they would be placed at the very top of the listings.

I think having it behave this way for the "Recently Added" menu option would make a llot more sense too.

If some users prefer having the list alphabetized, how about providing a toggle under settings to sort in either Date Added, or Alphabetized.

Again I'm using the latest build of Kodi v18.1 under Windows 10 1809.
