CFPB's internal chat bot built on Hubot.

Installation

1. Install Node.js (v8 or greater).
2. Install and start Redis.
3. Clone this repo.
4. cp .env.sample .env
5. Edit .env appropriately.
6. npm start.

Contributing

IMPORTANT: All git commits to this repo should have messages consisting of a single emoji code. Please select an emoji that is most applicable to the edits you have made to the codebase. PRs that fail to comply with this request will be rejected.

What time zone is CFPBot server in?

Important.

Update tests so they can be run locally

Instead of defining TRAVIS_COMMIT_MSG in a travis hook, define it directly in test/index.js so that the emoji test can be run locally.

Fresh install does not run due to missing dependencies

It seems that either package.json or the README is incomplete.

git clone, then npm install, then ./bin/hubot initially results in

Error: Cannot find module 'lodash'

It seems either modules are missing from package.json, or it expects globally installed npm packages which aren't called out in the README

Or, as seems to be the preferred communication mechanism round this here repo: 😡
