aerial's Issues

secondary monitor Right reserve automaticaly on auto-start

Hi,
having an issue with the last two updates of Aerial.
on auto start, the "Right" box on secondary monitor is tic automaticaly, though I don't want it to be.

so, on every startup, I have to get rid of the tic, and re-apply the conf.

I can't understand where he gets the Info that he has to apply a right edged reserve,
I only want to reserve the top of my monitors by 8

the planned task seems to be set OK

Assign apps to spaces

Feature Request.

Assign apps to spaces. Right now, I don't think there is a way to assign apps to spaces. Like Sticky Notes, or other apps that don't require a lot of space, but aren't widgets. Either that, or I don't know how to do it.

Issues on 4k resolution LG OLED TV

Maximizing windows with a top crop of 70 pixels seems to work but creates a large blue bar at the top of windows.

Maximizing windows with a bottom crop of 1 pixel is more like half the screen.

Perhaps need to fix for different resolution changes?

App not starting on user logon

Aerial is not starting when the user logs in, even with the task showing in Task Scheduler, which claims "Access Denied (0x80070005)". I even tried to remove the task and create it again (by claiming a desktop space), and reinstalling the app, with the same outcome.

Task Scheduler logs says the following:

Btw, I'm using the Store version.

Uninstall process?

Would like to know how to reverse all the changes made by the installation of this tool.

Exclude a program

I'm hoping to use this functionality in conjunction with PowerToys. However, my intended use requires that PowerToys not be affected by Aerial. It would be great (necessary for my use case) to be able to add PowerToys to some sort of blacklist for Aerial to ignore.

Chrome isn't playing nice with the gaps

I'm using 13px gaps in aerial.

Below there is a blue bar(the same colour as window's accent colour) at the top of the chrome window
Screenshot (8)

Edge also has something similar happening, but it just stretches the window where chrome would have bar.

Is there something I can change with chrome or aerial to fix this?

Space allocation and 0 values

Right and Bottom Space allocation seem to work incorrectly:

  • Any Value will have the space assigned wrong
  • 0 Values will allocate space and not reset

OS: Windows 10 - 2004(19041)
Here is a short video showcasing the issue: Video link

Aerial won't close when turning off computer

When turning off or restarting the PC, Aerial will keep itself open and Windows shows the message that 'Btop' (which is Aerial.exe) is preventing the shutdown/restart. We have to click the 'shut down anyway' or 'restart anyway' to complete the process.

Aerial automatically selects "Top" even without appropriate argument

I have Aerial set to activate for only the right side of my secondary monitor. But whenever I reboot my computer, the top and right sides of my secondary monitor are activated. I checked Task Scheduler and found the ostensibly correct argument for the executable, but opening Aerial shows that "Top" is selected as well as "Right". I must manually deselect "Top" on every reboot. This behavior is consistent and repeatable.

This behavior is consistent both in the Windows Store version and the GitHub package, both on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
How do I resolve this issue?

Increased Multiple Display Settings

I like the idea of this application, and would very much like to use it for my tertiary display without needing to change the current display order. Is it plausible to add settings for a tertiary, and possibly, a quaternary display?

bottom and right side border ignore value

Enabling right and/or bottom shifts over 1/2 of screen regardless of the value entered. Basically the same result as Windows logo key + Left Arrow.

enabling Top or left with a value works as expected though.

Desktop Icons are also confined to Aerial region

Loving Aerial so far, it does exactly what I was hoping it would. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but it appears that Aerial also confines desktop icons to the padded region.

If this isn't a bug, I'd love some sort of way to disable it affecting desktop icons if possible!

multiple monitors issue

when reserving space for secondary monitor. second and third monitors both reserve selected space. is it possible to reserve space for secondary monitors separately?
