This will require some plumbing in order to come up with an elegant solution. I hope we can just hard-code a call.

Use Region model

In models.py, we have a Region model, and in fact it looks like this is the way we planned to implement this in the first place. Of course, this was the plan before we realized we needed to use materialized views so this may be computationally overwhelming.

A related idea is to cache the computation that calculates the data we want to see in the Gene view.

Other considerations

• I think we are okay not allowing filtering on this view for now.
