Have a look at GResource, which allows you to put images, .ui files or anything directly into the executable.

A snap would be easier to install for Linux people since they don't have to install all the dependencies and compile the whole thing.

The end goal should is to simplify installation to:

snap install codav

CMake does not come by default on a Linux machine I think so add it to the apt prerequisites like I did for Homebrew.

1. Find out how the CMake package is called for Ubuntu.
2. Add it to the README.
3. Done.

This is purely documentation, no need to know Vala or CMake. An easy issue for beginners.

It's currently using the default system icon, not nice. Need to design a nice SVG icon and add it to GResources.

Is there such a thing as open source icon designers?

Make it possible to search in a CODA file on all fields. You currently can search the first column with CTRL+F but it only matches from the start and only in that column. Would be better if you can search the whole list (if you want to look for a structured communication for example).

Running ./codav produces following error:
