aero15x-laptop-linux-cuda-config's Issues

Fan control on linux ?

Hi there !
I also own a aero 15x (v7) and I'm running on arch linux. Did you manage to have fan control ? I tried some solution from Arch Wiki, but nothing works. Event when I try sensors cmdline, I don't get any outputs.
Do you have any clue/solution about it ?
Thank's !

Hardware GPU Mux?

Hey, I'm considering getting an Aero 15X and would basically have this exact configuration. I'm wondering if it has a Hardware GPU Mux? Such that in the BIOS one could turn off the iGPU and instead use the regular GPU directly? Or is that not possible at all and everything has to go through bumblebee. I was also wondering if bumblebee affects cuda performance, or just opengl/visual output performance?

bumblebeed fails at start up runs ok started later

bumblebee is working overall, but the service bumblebeed always fails when I boot. I can start it manually with:
sudo service bumblebeed restart

then the nvidia gpu is turned off correctly and the service appears to run well

Keyboard backlight

Hello,
Could someone tell me if the backlight is working properly on the Aero 15X (or 15W) ? I know that you cannot have the same level of control like in Windows but could not find any more informations on that. Can the backlight at least be turn on / turn off ?
Thank you !

Can't disable nvidia card

Ok so after a fresh install following your guidelines, just adapting the driver number to 390 instead of 361 in the tutorial, and 14.04 to 16.04, I managed to install everything including cuda, and booting to the standard Ubuntu GUI.
However when I check which graphics card is running, I get this:
~$ lsmod | grep nvidia nvidia_drm 40960 2 nvidia_modeset 1093632 4 nvidia_drm nvidia 14323712 199 nvidia_modeset drm_kms_helper 167936 2 i915,nvidia_drm drm 360448 6 i915,nvidia_drm,drm_kms_helper ipmi_msghandler 45056 2 nvidia,ipmi_devintf ~$ lsmod | grep i915 i915 1830912 3 i2c_algo_bit 16384 1 i915 drm_kms_helper 167936 2 i915,nvidia_drm drm 360448 6 i915,nvidia_drm,drm_kms_helper video 40960 1 i915 ~$ glxinfo | grep OpenGL OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GTX 1070 with MaxQ Design/PCIe/SSE2 OpenGL core profile version string: 4.5.0 NVIDIA 390.30 OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.50 NVIDIA OpenGL core profile context flags: (none) OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile OpenGL core profile extensions: OpenGL version string: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.30 OpenGL shading language version string: 4.60 NVIDIA OpenGL context flags: (none) OpenGL profile mask: (none) OpenGL extensions: OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.2 NVIDIA 390.30 OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.20 OpenGL ES profile extensions:
Can someone please help me figure that out? I thought everything was working fine but apparently not yet. Does it have something to do with modprobe not blacklisting the driver correctly? or anything else that I might have let slip?
EDIT: I am running the Aero15X from Gigabyte aswell, with the 7700HQ CPU and Nvidia GTX 1070 MaxQ GPU
Also I am french so feel free to reply in either french or english
