covidpreprints's Issues

DT table ordering by date is wrong

It think it's because it reads it as a character string when it's a date. I've stumbled onto the same problem some time ago for another project and I think it's not to difficult to fix but I'm putting this here so that we don't forget.

Create the preprint plot dynamically

I see the plot in the "Preprints posted to BioRxiv & MedRxiv" tab is included as a static png file. With shiny, it would be possible to create it on the fly and include it in the website.

I can submit a PR for this if you wish. I can re-code it from scratch or use some already existing code that you have (if it's easily available) ๐Ÿ˜„

Improve the checking to see if a preprint is published

To determine if a preprint has been published we currently run an additional script. However, this loops through our table and opens each link to the preprint in a browser window one-by-one to check if there is a published version. This is very time consuming and a more efficient process is needed.

Server issue

The web address does not direct to the correct server port; i.e. instead of covidpreprints.com displaying the website users get the server page and instead must use covidpreprints.com/shiny to access the website

Option for user to suggest additions to the timeline

A "suggestions" type box where a user can submit a preprint link / doi and "summary" info or links to further info and then a moderator (those running the site) could approve or reject the suggestion to appear on the time line.

Make the site more user-friendly / build from scratch

The website is currently built using the Timevis package and deployed with shiny server. However, to gain additional functionality it would be better if the site could be designed from scratch as purpose built platform instead.
