We have a hacked together MakeFile.vc in the recipe.

But we need to keep it up to date with changes to the one in the source, for instance:

libgd/libgd#682

which I just did in #41 -- not sure if that worked yet.

But we really should be using the one in the source, and patching if necessary, rather than replacing it.

Have you tried cmake for this? It looks like they are shipping the configure script now, so that's good, but cmake may be a better option for Windows.

of course, we can use it only on Windows, but I thought I'd ask if it's been tried at all.

I'm a bit confused about this:

if [[ failed -eq 1 ]]; then
    grep -rl "DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=" tests | xargs sed -i.bak "s~DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=.*~DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$PREFIX/lib~g"
make check

isn't it important that it work in a conda environment without having to mess with DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH?

or is the build environment different than the installed environment in this regard?

only known to work with py2.7 -- i.e. VS2008

I"m not sure how to make different versions with different compilers -- features?

but this could be a starting place.
