Submitting To A Relay Bounties - Details and Instructions

Submission Deadline

All bounty submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM EDT on October 4th, 2019 to be considered.

Judging Date

Projects will be assessed from October 5th to October 10th, 2019, and winners will be announced by GitCoin and Labs.

Judging Criteria

Projects will be assessed based on the following criteria categories: people, product, and potential. You can see a more complete breakdown of the judging criteria below in a screenshot of an actual rubric that we use for judging.

How to Submit Your Project!

Step 0

Fork this repo

Step 1

Clone that fork to your desktop.

Step 2

Create a branch named after your project.

Step 2

In the repo, there is one folder for each bounty. Open the folder that corresponds with the bounty you are submitting against.

Step 3

In the bounty's folder, create a new subfolder for your team's project.

Step 3

Name the subfolder your project name.

Step 4

Submit the following in your project's folder:

• Submission.md template
• A single file that pitches the product (video, PDF, deck)
• All supporting material (code, research, designs etc)

All submissions, including all code, must be open source for future use and reference by the community, and links to external documents must be provided in the Github repo submission.

As a reminder, we are looking for projects that address a real problem and teams that have shown the progress and entrepreneurial instincts to make something real and get it out in the world. Your application should communicate this. The more compelling the presentation, the better your team does!

Step 5

Fill out the submission.md template, included at the top of the bounty's folder with all relevant information.

This must be included to be considered for the bounty prize.

Step 6

Create a pull request with your team's folder submission to be merged into Master. Submit it to the repo.

Who Can Enter:

Anyone who is in the process of starting a web3 company that is pre-funding can participate.

Prize

$500 in ETH (2 prizes for less than 10 submissions, 4 prizes awarded if more than 10 submissions received).

Challenge

Have you been working on a blockchain or Web3 startup in your spare time? Have you been hustling on nights and weekends and need some incentive to make things happen with your project? Do you need an excuse to take a break from coding and ruthlessly focus on traction? If so, this hackathon is for you!

Over the next 15 days, drive as much viral growth for your startup as you possibly can. This is something you need to do anyways; let us pay you to do it! At the end of the hackathon, prove to us that you’ve made major positive impact in your metrics by showing us significant improvement in:

• Beta signups or emails collected
• Medium post shares or claps
• Existing Web3 players talking about your idea publicly (e.g. on Twitter or in publications)
• Industry SME endorsements (recorded, written, or published)
• Members in your WhatsApp or Telegram group
• Participation in your Slack or Discord space
• Other (tell us how you measure virality!)

The only metric we will not accept is Twitter metrics, as they can be easily tampered with.

Deliverables Due Upon Completion

We expect to see the following upon completion of the hackathon:

• A link to your product webpage or existing product materials
• A benchmark of metrics as of January 29, 2020
• Quantifiable proof of traction both upon completion and over time. Show us your numbers!
• An open-source playbook on how you achieved success, written and published as an article, a deck, a PDF, etc. This should be at least 700 words in length.

How We Score Your Entries

Quantitative: Link to score-card with weighted scores and how it will be calculated for each.
Qualitative: 40% of the score will be based on the playbook; the creativity and ingenuity shown in finding potential users for your next project and building a community around it.

Rules

The following rules will be strictly enforced by judges, at their discretion:

• Any cheating will result in immediate disqualification (no bots!)
• Each applicant must meet minimum scoring requirements
• Applicants must be able to showcase benchmark numbers as of January 29, 2020 for comparison to post-hackathon numbers.

Challenge

Have you been wondering about what blockchain and web3 technology is? Do you believe that somewhere, someone is experiencing a problem caused by lack of transparency, corruption, or centralization? If so, this hackathon is for you!

Important to note: We are not asking for your app idea. Submissions that are just the idea alone, without user validation and a playbook of their methods will be marked as disqualified.

Over the next 15 days, publish your idea and experiment to see if people are interested. No code required; this is a contest for growth hacking and lean experimentation! At the end of the hackathon, show us that you’ve come up with the most viral idea for a new startup by sending us compelling numbers in the form of:

• Beta signups or emails collected (i.e. through a fake door)
• Medium post shares or claps
• Existing Web3 players talking about your idea publicly (e.g. on Twitter or in publications)
• Industry SME endorsements (recorded, written, or published)

All metric counts should end/close 48 hours before the end of the hackathon (Feb 10 at 11:59 EST)

Use the last 48 hours to write a playbook which includes learnings from this experiment and recommendations based on those learnings
