solutiondependencychecker's Issues

How?

label: question
How does this tool work? Does it use standard PAC CLI method or does it query components directly with OragnisationService?
How can this be implemented in a DevOps cycle?

Plugin Hangs

Found by @vsn2000 recorded in the XRMToolbox repo before we had issues enabled in the Solution Dependency Checker repo.

Original issue here: MscrmTools/XrmToolBox#1107 (comment)

Describe the bug
With the new release 1.2.0 on xrm toolbox 1.2021.12.53, anytime you try to check a solution for dependency issues, the UI of solution dependency checker just hangs/spins. It does not say "no missing dependecies found"

To Reproduce
Run dependency checker against a target dynamics environment

Expected behavior
A message indicating either no dependencies were found missing, or a list of missing dependencies.

Tool does not work anymore

Describe the bug
The tool keep stating it us unable to find missing components. When we attempt to import into org, it fails due to dependencies.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'Solution Dependency Checker" tool
  2. Click on 'open solution' and select the solution
  3. States" Unable to find missing components" in any environment even if the solution came from another tenant

Expected behavior
Expected to show all dependencies that are missing with output file

Solution file size limit?

I'm trying to check dependencies on a fairly large solution file (7305 KB). It's definitely a valid file, but I keep getting "File is invalid. Please check you loaded a valid solution file". Is there a size limit? Thanks!

Improved Instructions

Not technically an issue, but received feedback from others in XRM Toolbox site.

"We have a customer with a complex, large system and multiple component authors simultaneously across several solutions. This tool helps me quickly evaluate early on if the next scheduled production deploy will fail from missing dependencies. Overall great tool, exactly what I needed, thank you. Feature suggestions: - It wasn't immediately apparent to me that you need to connect to the target environment through XrmToolBox and then upload the solution zip from the source environment. I think a helper/info text regarding this in the instructions pane would be beneficial. - Possibility to skip .csv file generation"

Enhancement thoughts

  1. Improved instructions (connect to target, upload solution)
  2. Option to skip csv file generation
