Have you made any progress with the issue? Could it be related to your specific configuration of conda packages? I just tried to install all dependencies (numpy, scipy, pytest, xarray, netcdf4 from conda) and hn2016_falwa (cloned from github) in a fresh miniconda environment (latest py310_22.11.1-1) and had no issues with netcdf4 or otherwise. I spent the most time waiting for the package downloads to finish.

@chpolste This ticket was actually opened by me using Veeshan's computer when I tried to install hn2016_falwa on GFDL machine via his computer. Thanks for confirming the installation works on your side. May you share what bash command you executed in order to install the environment? Conda failed to resolve the dependencies (got stuck there for a long while and failed) when we install netcdf4 after install necessary packages (numpy/scipy/xarray) for hn2016_falwa
.
Veeshan encountered another issue at F2PY module compilation on his machine. @Veenarinesingh may you confirm if any issues we encountered have been resolved on your side by chance?

Hi @Veenarinesingh , FYI I figured out a conda environment setup that can install netcdf4 together without conflicts with the package dependencies.
I know you are not working on this issue at the moment so I'll close the ticket for now. Please feel free to reactivate this/open new tickets if you have any questions when you restart working on it. Thanks!
