Mobile Application

I am going with React Native but I am not sure whether to go with Expo and React Native.

Expo is convenient but idk if that's even a good reason to use it.
I am not using Expo for Web and/or React Native Web because it was more of hassle than a convenient in my opinion trying to mash three platform especially web and mobile together in the UI side and development experience.

Here is my requirements:

  • - Support Libraries I might want to use or support good enough libraries
  • - Some minimal platform specific code
  • - Actually works and didn't die 12 seconds in

Choosing Expo

Gives:

  • Over the air updates
  • EAS Build
  • Easy packaging
  • Probably wouldn't die 12 seconds in
  • Better CLI and Toolings

Loses:

  • Platform specific code (at least not as clean)
  • Weird libraries confusion (which work which doesn't)
  • Some other unknown limitations
  • Cannot use it in a hybrid fashion

Choosing React Native

Gives:

  • Platform Specific Code
  • Latest versions of everything
  • Probably better for jobs (idk)
  • Most if not all libraries will work
  • Hybrid fashion
  • Smaller bundle size

Loses:

  • Convenient may reduce slightly to severely
  • Might die for unknown reasons
  • Harder to configure to begin with
  • No fancy builds etc.
  • App Store Updates only (i think)
