televido's Issues

Todo / Ideas / Meta

UI/UX

  • the app icon needs some polish (especially the "screen" part looks very basic)

Live view

  • #9 (zapp supports this)

Mediathek view

  • #10
    • instead of being a "search in" category, the channel should be an additional filter
    • mediathekviewweb api supports this by combining multiple queries
    • #12
  • #13

Project management

Browse the Mediathek

I have no idea what shows are in the Mediathek. I can only search for things I (vaguely) know of. I'd be great if by default the Mediathek tab showed a list of categories so one can browse through the content and discover new things to watch.

As a source of inspiration the ARD&ZDF kodi addon does a great job.

Add an option to access prereleased shows

MediathekViewWeb shows prereleased entries in the results. Televido only shows already released entries (date today and older).

Example (as of 20. May):

Letzte Spur Berlin

Televido shows episode from 17.5.2024

MVW shows (coming) episode from 24.5.2024

Support subtitles

Some listings from MediathekViewWeb also have a link to subtitles (such as this one). It would be nice if this link were also exposed in Televido.

Pass `--mpv-speed=1.0` to celluloid to play live streams at normal speed

Setting celluloid as the default video player in televido while using a mpv config file with a faster video playback speed such as 1.75x leads to constant pausing and me having to manually adjust the speed each time I open a live stream.

Celluloid allows overwriting the mpv-defined playback speed via arg: celluloid --mpv-speed=1.0 $FILENAME. Would it be possible for televido to pass that option along for live streaming?

Feel free to close the issue if you find it to be too esoteric to consider.

Thanks for releasing televido, really like it so far!

Mobile support

The window is a bit too wide to be used on mobile screens. It also doesn't declare itself as supporting mobile devices, so it doesn't show on mobile home screens. Otherwise, it works great on those devices. This issue is to address the two issues.

Support saving searches

This would allow creating some sort of “bookmark” for shows that you watch regularly.

While saving a search could be easily done using e.g. a ToggleButton, I am not sure how saved searches should be retrieved in a simple and intuitive way. If it is too complicated to find the saved search terms, there is no point in using this feature over re-typing the search term.

Update translations

I plan to release v0.4.0 soon.

There were quite a few changes, so it would be great if you could update the translations:

Thanks!

Suggestion: libclapper in-app player

Since clapper is already an option as an external player I'd suggest integrating it directly into televideo for a more seamless experience.

I generated rust bindings for it and am already making use of it as part of Newsflash. Another application adding support for libclapper is tuba.

In my opinion an integrated player would make televideo feel a lot more complete.
