Build a RESTful API in Java

For proper separation of concerns, we should be processing and organizing data from the database on the server side in our Java modules, and build a RESTful API for our AngularJS client to consume with minimal processing.

Here's a pretty popular Java library for implementing RESTful APIs: https://jersey.java.net/

This will probably be the most complex part of the project and is something we should get started on fairly early if we want to meet the deadline.

Implementing Authentication

Looks like using JDBC Realms is the proper way to authenticate against a database for Tomcat.

With NetBeans the Tomcat development server uses a temporary config directory located here:
"%AppData%\NetBeans\7.4\apache-tomcat-7.0.41.0_base"

I'm not sure how exactly to include this in source control...
