Discord Portable

DiscordPortable is a portable version of the popular Discord application. It's an all-in-one voice and text chat for gamers that's free, secure, and works on both your desktop and phone. Stop paying for TeamSpeak servers and hassling with Skype. Simplify your life.

I was given permission by Discord Inc. to continue with developing this project. However, they will not be able to officially endorse this project because, "...we do not have a hand in development directly." They go on to say..

"As a result, if they happen to be released, we recommend to all of our users to be cautious when using third party applications with Discord in general and any usage is at their own risk."

BetterDiscord

Now with BetterDiscord incorperated. Copy C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord to ..\DiscordPortable\App\BetterDiscord or just download the latest release.

To recompile this PAF you must use my PortableApps Compiler.

If cloning this project please copy your local Discord folder into the App directory otherwise download the package from the Releases section.

All downloads available in the Releases section. This portable application was packaged using a modified version of the PortableApps.com Launcher.

discordportable's Issues

Not usable on surface 2 with windows 10

so i have a windows surface 2 (2014 model) with a version of windows 10 enterprise downloaded onto it and ive tried eveything to get portable to download but i keep getting the pop up saying in order to download apps i need to use the microsoft store but it doesnt exist on the microsoft store, any advice or way to help? the only thing i havent tried is to try to download the microsoft store version onto a usb then transfer it over or try to trick the store into having the app

BetterDiscord on Portable Version don't apply plugin and theme when I Launched.

I tried to move everything in %appdata%\BetterDiscord to ..\DiscordPortable\App\BetterDiscord, but only BetterDiscord is enabled, and Plugins and Theme are not copied to. Hope you can correct the error. Thank you.

Discord Updating Forever

When installing one more update it gets stuck and never downloads the update.

Folder size increase with successful updates

The original application folder (app-0.0.298) size is 116mb. After launching and updating the Discord app newer application subfolders are created. This results in a doubling of the overall portable folder size. In my case an additional 133mb folder was created (app-0.0.306). This is not a preferential handling of updates. Not only is there increased file size but this could also mean outdated app folders never get deleted (resulting in incremental size increase).

It appears that you may need to fix a Relative Path Environment Variable

Hello,
I was very excited to have stumbled upon this project, unfortunately it fails to launch after the PAL installer completes unpacking the program. It throws an exception immediately "Error: A JavaScript error occurred in the main process" and it goes on to say, "Cannot find module C:\Users\devin\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord\data\betterdiscord.asar"

Clearly, my computer should not be trying to find files that are stored on YOUR machine. I've included a screenshot showing the error message. At the moment I cannot think of anything else that I could provide to help you find the problem. I do hope that you find this report helpful.

DiscordPortable is detected as malware by Avast

Avast detects DiscordPortable.exe as infected by FileRepMetagen (that is very likely meaning that the file has a bad reputation) when runned or when doing a right-click scan.

Antivirus thinks it contains malware??

I tried to launch it, but my autovirus automatically takes it and tells me it's Malware. I'll have to disable it for 5 minutes...

DiscordPortable requiring admin priviledge

DiscordPortable requests admin priviledges. However, if this is supposed to be a portable app, shouldn't that be the case? I can't run this on any computer without me having access to the administrator accout.
