I found your work super interesting and complementary to another problem I tried to solve: Asynchronous Chain Calls (of fluent methods first but also native function glad to you).

I implemented a lib providing this feature and integrated your work into (using your Pipe class directly wasn't feasible so I had to copy/paste some of your approach). My work also provides support for array entries access and can be dumped as PHP code which opens possibilities for meta-programming.

So, even if your code is perfect as it is, I thought you could be interesting by mine, hopefully, and I'd love to have your feedback on it.

With deferred call chains, the following code works:

$nameRobertAndRetrieveFullname = DeferredCallChain::new_(Human::class)
    ->setName('Muda')
    ->setFirstName('Robert')
    ->getFullName()
    ->strtoupper()
    ;

$robert = new Human;
echo $nameRobertAndRetrieveFullname( $robert ); // => ROBERT MUDA
