Hunting Dimension

Many players encounter a situation where they need mob drops but can't hunt the mobs because it is day time. This issue is especially prominent on servers. This mod hopes to solve this issue, and any potential disputes it may cause by providing a hunting dimension. The hunting dimension provided by this mod is eternally night, meaning that mobs can spawn all day long.

Hunting Dimension Mobs

The mobs that spawn in the hunting dimension are not like the mobs that normally spawn in the game. They will have additional natural armor, higher amounts of health and do more damage. These buffs to the mobs can be increased/decreased/disabled by changing the config file.

Mob Farm Benefits

  • Mobs killed have a (configurable) chance to drop additional loot. As if they had +1 looting applied to their drops.
  • Mobs killed have a (configurable) chance to drop a (configurable) amount of additional experience.
  • Dimension has significantly less cave generation, improving mob farm efficiency.
  • Building mob farms in one dimension makes sources of lag easier to track down.

Planned Features

  • Item to allow the player to change the type of any biome within the dimension. Allows for easier access to biome specific mobs.
  • Rare mob spawns that serve as mini bosses. Lighting creepers, mobs with armor.

Can't stop rain in Hunting Dimension...

Minecraft: 1.12.2
Pack: Sevtech 3.0.7
Mod version: 1.0.24
Multiplayer server
Java: 1.8.0 171 64 bit

No matter what I do, I can't get the rain to stop here. I've done the totemic drought ceremony, /toggledownfall, /weather clear, nothing I can think of works.

Without building some form of covering, I have no way to fight endermen here.

I've seen it not rain before, but I should be able to make it stop raining with one of the aforementioned methods, hence the issue report.

Seems like this would be an issue related to this mod specifically, if I'm mistaken I'll gladly move this report to the SevTech issue tracker.

Suggestion: Config option to spawn with block platform in Hunting Dimension

I looked at the config file, and the biome and worldgen options are basically fine. However, there are modpacks - like mine - where the Hunting Dimension will ocasionally just be one huge ocean, or possibly a skyblock/void dimension. To not fall flat in such cases gameplay-wise, I suggest spawning players with a few blocks under their feet at least on first entry. In case a return portal is meant to be present, well, I got none in my "waterworld". So my thinking is, the config file should/could have both an option to create a return portal and a dirt/whatever platform underneath for those edge cases. Disable them by default if you will, but they would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind that while arrows should be fairly easy to come by, some worldgen may be entirely woodless, so players without spare portal or wood blocks to craft them will be stranded in those.

Teleportation canceled (Private MP)

Just got to Age 1 with my friend and created the hunting dimension portal, i was able to enter it without any problems but he was getting an error in chat that says that a mod is blocking him from entering to the dimension (we both use the sevtech ages modpack)

Hunting Dimension portal wont form on Sevtech

Following all steps, built the portal, at that stage, stone sword is the only option for vanilla sword to use on it, as not even the mobs drop iron swords yet for that age. Wont form.

[Savtech] Changing to Darklands type biome

I tried to change the chunk to any darklands specific biome and the biome changed to ocean when holding only one creeping moss. This seems to be fine when holding 2 or more creeping moss - it changed ok.

the pack loads fine and havent had any problems with anything except going into this hunting dim. the dim doesnt seem to load. also while in that picture i did use some commands, /forge tps showed that the world didnt seem to load, had 0 mean tick time. and /home was the only way to get out of that to get back home and continue playing. this is on a server and you are welcome to give it a try yourself. i can tp you to a portal and advance your advancements so that you are able to pass through. just join the server at ghast.hammergaming.com:25566 and type this to get my attention: @MavDarkness#6572

Biome Changing Issue

So I'm playin on SevTechAges Modpack and I created the portal and when I'm using a moss to change the biome in the dimension It's not working but the message about changing the biome appears

Portal spawning in walls

Hello,

I'm using version 1.0.6 of the mod. My base is underground, and the portal I put in my base seemed to consistently spawn me solid blocks on the other side. I'm not sure what logic it uses for portal spawns, but would it be possible to make it check the surroundings and keep going "up" until there was sufficient room to let the player out without suffocating?

For now I simply moved the portal outside and all is well, but it would be nice if this could be altered. I've never looked into how that works, but an Aroma Mining Dimensionl in the same spot does work (if that helps).

Villages spawning even with config set to false.

As stated in the title, villages will continue to spawn in the Hunting Dimension despite having set the associated config to "false"

Having a look at it closer, the villages that spawn in the HD seem to be random however if a village exists in the Overworld, it will be copied block for block in the HD. Even the blacksmith loot and villager trades are the same.

I'm more than likely doing something wrong, request if a workaround is possible?

All I did was set up the portal and ignite it.

Set sound chance and spawn chance to 0, because they're both dumb and/or annoying, however.
Gonna go set them to the highest numbers and see if I still crash.

Bookshelf dependency won't auto-download alpha on Twitch

Hi Darkhax,

This isn't really an issue with the mod per se, but...

As of this writing, Twitch won't automatically download the right version of Bookshelf (for most people) at the time of this writing because it's flagged as alpha. This is easy enough to deal with for me, but may confuse many people who are interested in the mod.

Since Hunting Dimension is flagged as a "release build" (1.0.6) and depends on Bookshelf, would it be possible to get a version of bookshelf (2.3.510 or higher) flagged as at least beta?

As the figure shown, after building the portal, I just can't travel through it.

The version I use is the HuntingDimension-1.12.2-1.0.12.jar.

  1. Created the portal (within a chunk)
  2. Used my Emerald sword to activate portal
  3. Stood in middle of portal and sneak.. nothing happened
  • Broken the portal and redo and still unable to go to portal

server entering + exiting issue

almost when ever I enter the hunting dimension on a server it gets stuck on loading terrain and I have to quit minecraft to get into and out of the diamension

Portal is lit. Nothing happens

So, We are playing PO3 and have just built our hunting dimension portal but it wont teleport.

We have a Nether portal that works fine and I have been through the all of the issues posted here.

there is NO error message.. you can just stand in the portal forever. No crash, No 'entity error' just nothing..

The server and the client are running V 1.0.36 (they came with PO3.)

Just updated to 1.0.38 (latest release) still nothing.. so weird..

World Generation

  1. Is it possible for the dimension to generate a non-void terrain when using a world type like Garden of Glass?

  2. Is it "heightScale": 684.412, that controls the height of the terrain? (want to make the dimension completely flat)

I am getting the above error in chat (numerous times) whenever I try to sneak through the Hunting Dimension portal on my work-in-progress pack. Here are some version details:

using Foamfix Anarchy 0.9.2
Minecraft 1.12.2

It's a big pack with 190 mods currently as counted by Forge. I haven't tried Hunting Dimension before, so apologies if I am just using it wrong. The portal can be built and activated fine, using a Tinker's Construct sword to ignite it. I rebuilt and ignited it again with a vanilla Wooden Sword, just to compare, but the result was the same. It won't let me enter. So far only trying in singleplayer, as I am developing and testing my personal pack on 1.12.2. There are no crashes, just an ignited portal that refuses to let the player through.
Tell me if you'd like my modlist or something else that I can provide. Of the mods that mess with the player model, I have Galacticraft in the pack. So far haven't tried removing that, but I guess that'll be my next troubleshooting attempt.

[Suggestion] Specific Mob spawn?

Will be really cool if we could change a chunk (like biome change does) to spawn only one specific mob for a certain time or not (configurable)
to make the item that does it, could be like Woot:
Hit the desired mob with the item and it will be configured for that mob
Kill X times that mob to it become configured

maybe an option that to be able to configure the item you need to kill the desired mob only in the hunting dimension?

Status messages on Creeping Moss displays twice

Using the Creeping Moss in the Overworld or changing its biome displays the chat message twice per use at a very short interval.

It would also be nice to have them printed in the action bar rather than your chat.

Non-stop raining in the hunting dimension

Its been over 2 hours now and its yet to stop raining, this is not only annoying as its causing lag to some degree it also prevents me from finding any enderman. Any clue how i can change/fix it?
