Hi there,

as I'm currently starting to deploy this on some servers, I've found that I have to go to the master branch to get somewhat working py3 compatibility.

Are there some open tasks left for py3 compatibility that I could help with? Other than that, would it perhaps make sense to cut a release?

we have a usecase here (AD Azure) where the LDAP returns a ldap.UNAVAILABLE exception, as discribed here: https://www.python-ldap.org/en/python-ldap-3.3.0/reference/ldap.html#ldap.UNAVAILABLE
As I can understand, this means that it could connect but the DSA (directory system agent) on the windows server is not ready.
We are still using the branch 2.x for this package, I will propose a PR then if it looks correct to you, it could be done in master as well.
