sql-runner's Introduction

sql-runner project

This project uses Quarkus, the Supersonic Subatomic Java Framework.

If you want to learn more about Quarkus, please visit its website: https://quarkus.io/ .

Running the application in dev mode

You can run your application in dev mode that enables live coding using:

./gradlew quarkusDev

Packaging and running the application

The application can be packaged using:

./gradlew build

It produces the sql-runner-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT-runner.jar file in the /build directory. Be aware that it’s not an über-jar as the dependencies are copied into the build/lib directory.

If you want to build an über-jar, execute the following command:

./gradlew build -Dquarkus.package.type=uber-jar

The application is now runnable using java -jar build/sql-runner-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT-runner.jar.

Creating a native executable

You can create a native executable using:

./gradlew build -Dquarkus.package.type=native

Or, if you don't have GraalVM installed, you can run the native executable build in a container using:

./gradlew build -Dquarkus.package.type=native -Dquarkus.native.container-build=true

You can then execute your native executable with: ./build/sql-runner-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT-runner

If you want to learn more about building native executables, please consult https://quarkus.io/guides/gradle-tooling.

sql-runner's Issues

add authentication

add a simple authentication mechanism.
The authentication should just verify a token that is provided in the application.yml file, no need to create a database of users/roles for now.
this functionality may later be upgraded, to add a token per sql file, but this may also come with another functionality for posting sql files, still need to be studied.

add support for building a package for the applicaiton with embedded jre

configure a gradle task for building the application as a fat jar with an embedded server and jre, so it can be run directly with no need for external dependencies.
this is an alternative for native builds if it fails because we are using oracle drivers and r2dbc drivers that may not support native builds

cache sql file contents

queries retrieved by FileServerVerticle should be cached with lifetime of at least 15 min
