Enable userspace to read the real config?

It would be good to revert c138e76
Doing so will allow anyone to see what's baked inside the image, if it doesn't affect the functionality much
Can you give more detail about spits out an error message after boot finishes when it doesn't like the kernel's configuration part

Read & Write speed slows on external storage

read and write speed falls down after a few hours or days. The picture with lower R/W speeds is taken 22 hours after the first picture. After a reboot RW returns to normal for a few hours.
