Pocket Dudes

Pocket Dudes is a virtual pet-adoption app where the user can play, earn points, shop, and interact with their pet. Pocket Dudes was built on a Ruby on Rails API backend with a React and React-Redux frontend, with custom CSS styling.

Project Status

This project is currently in development. Users can adopt pets, buy items, earn points, and care for their pet. Functionality to create an account and draw custom pet images using an in-app whiteboard are in progress.

Installation and Setup Instructions

Clone this repository and the frontend repository. Follow frontend installation and setup instructions in the README file of the frontend repo. You will need node and npm installed globally on your machine.

Database Setup:

rails db:create
rails db:migrate
rails db:seed

To Start Backend Server:

rails s -p 5000

To Visit App:

localhost:3000

in browser
