Never discover an overnight Windows restart by finding yesterday's unsaved work gone. RebootWarn quietly watches Windows Update from the notification area and gives you an unmistakable warning when a restart is pending, while there is still time to save everything and reboot on your own schedule.
It stays out of the way, launches automatically after sign-in, and needs no cloud service or account. When Windows Update requires a restart, the tray icon turns red and RebootWarn sends a configurable daily reminder with a direct link to Windows Update.
- Uses the Windows Update Agent
Microsoft.Update.SystemInfo.RebootRequiredsignal. - Checks on launch, every 15 minutes, after resume, and when Check now is selected.
- Starts after user sign-in through the packaged
windows.startupTaskextension. - Shows the status window on the first interactive launch; later launches start directly in the tray.
- Closing the window keeps the app running in the notification area; use Quit from the tray menu to exit.
- Notification and tray actions can open
ms-settings:windowsupdate.
