Currently, we have 4 recommended video players, each to their own strength:
I think the above covers every aspect of video playing. However, there's a fifth entry on the list: RocketVideoPlayer.
From the list I've outlined above, it doesn't have any advantages. In fact, the only thing I see this being different is a disadvantage: A bigger file size because it's uncompressed.
Potentially, you could come and tell me that this is to get longer videos at a better frame-rate than XVID. Unfortunately, from what I remember, this doesn't do well with longer videos, with de-synchronization issues.
RVID aint an extinct format; TWiLight currently uses it. However, it should just be reserved for small 10-second videos and not anything longer, which unfortunately may very well be the message we're giving off when recommending it.
I think it would be beneficial for the projects covered here to have glossary pages, especially for nds-bootstrap.
These would cover settings and relevant topics/bugs/etc.
The DS Index pages sort of do this, but they don't cover everything and don't necessarily tell what it means for the end user.
It lists "Fixing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn", but that's recently been fixed
Selective widescreen stopped working like a year ago, so moving and renaming TwlBg is redundant.
The following items need to be added/adjusted in the DSi/3DS skins page:
DarkLoading
theme.ini setting (#2134)UseAlphaBlend
theme.ini setting (#2141)
https://wiki.ds-homebrew.com/ds-index/retail-roms says that cheat codes "generally have types A through E," though this is not true, they have types 0 through F, (although it's not that simple anyways because of types D0, D1, D2, etc).
Also, it only describes the E type cheat.
Is there a specific reason for these? Or was it just never finished?
"How to Get Box Art" page currently recommends using version 0.6 of TwilightBoxart, which is very old and has some issues (one of them being OpenSSL support under Linux).
I have been porting the tool to .NET 8.0 and got it working well enough, so I believe it would make sense to replace it with my fork.
I released version 0.8.0 with the port, I would like to request that, if possible, my fork replaces the previous tool on the wiki page.
https://wiki.ds-homebrew.com/twilightmenu/creating-ram-disks only has instructions for Dataram RAMDisk, which is only for Windows. Instructions for macOS and Linux would be good to have.
https://github.com/lakinduakash/linux-wifi-hotspot has support for creating a WEP/Open hotspot with only one Wi-Fi card. This would be preferred over the current methods with Linux, macOS, and Windows XP/Vista, as those all require a Wi-Fi card/adapter as well as another connection, like Ethernet or an iPhone.
The reason I haven't PR'd this is the fact that Lillie had difficulties setting it up, so if more users could give input on it, it can be decided on whether or not to add it, and any information that should be included with it on the Wi-Fi page.

even though these buttons are not representative of buttons found on a Nintendo DS.It doesn't seem to work according to a user on Discord.
For that reason, v3.0.2 version of Audacity is linked. But we should either find out why the latest version doesn't work, or switch to some other software.
It would be useful if the emulators page listed information on where to put the BIOS for specific emulators that use or require them, and information or links to information on how to dump them.
I know that a BIOS dump is outright required for FDS games, and some other emulators (GBARunner2, GameYob) use them for greater compatibility or features and such. I'm not sure how you would integrate this information, but it would be helpful for support of using these software.
I think it would be great to add a page about video players to the Wiki, for the DS Index.
This page would cover MPEG4Player, MoonShell, RocketVideoPlayer, Tuna-viDS, and FastVideoDS when that comes out.
The page would compare the video players' capabilities and flaws, as well as explain how to convert videos for the video players.
I would very much like to write this page myself, but I am not experienced with how video formats work or the technical details of the players, I haven't gotten videos working on MoonShell, I'm not sure of the best way to write about ffmpeg installation and usage, and I don't know about instructions for operating systems other than Windows.
Gericom has permitted moving GBARunner2 information from WikiTemp to the DS-Homebrew Wiki, and move the compatibility lists to their own Google Sheet.
This would allow for much better organization of information, easier contribution/editing, and readability for mobile users.
Tasks:
There's could also be an installation section/page, as well as bringing over "Navigating and Usage," but I don't think they're really necessary.
Sometimes I just need only 1 NFTR load, in case when I'm lazy one need extra RAM for more glyphs (under DS mode).
The TWiLight Menu++ page "How to Create DSi/3DS Skins" should have details on the fontpalette settings in theme.ini
(Currently) there are many different versions of GBARunner2. Wifi_link, hicode, ARM7/9DLDI DS/DSi/3DS, one or two different forks, and so on (and some of these are overlapping of course). I think a solid page or FAQ entry on which version should be used for which purpose would be beneficial.
https://wiki.ds-homebrew.com/hiyacfw/forwarders should be updated to use the DSi instructions at the Forwarder3-DS GBAtemp thread, as opposed to MakeForwarder.
I would like to move it over myself, but I'm not sure how to go about writing the flashcard instructions alongside it.
