select module imported in server.py, but not used

Line 2: import select is not used anywhere in the chat-server.py script. What is the significance of doing so?

Correct usage: script, IP address, port number

List index out of range error

When I try to run the server it says this:

File "C:/Users/MyName/Desktop/Chat/chat_server.py", line 17, in
IP_address = str(sys.argv[3])

IndexError: list index out of range

read_sockets,write_socket, error_socket = select.select(sockets_list, [], []) not working

Help me out!!! what to use instead of sys.stdin

https://docs.python.org/2/library/select.html has a hint on this.

… Note that on Windows, it only works for sockets; on other operating systems, it also works for other file types …
So, we cannot use sys.stdin here.

Connection refused error : [winError 10061] no connection could be made the target machine actively refused it

I am new to python. I dont know how to run this script. Please provide readme

'start_new_thread' is not defined in chat_server.py, line 64

Server and client are starting up correctly, but when client tries to connect to the server, line 64 of chat_server.py is reached and function 'start_new_thread' is not defined. I tried looking in the socket or select libraries, but no luck. Where is this function defined?
