OpenShift Client Tools - Docker Image

Summary

• A 🐳 Docker image for the oc command line tool, used to control Openshift based on alpine.

To build the Docker image

• Build the image using docker

$ docker build -t openshift-client .

• Run the container

$ docker run --rm -it openshift-client oc version

• Optionally add an alias to your local profile so you can run the container as a cli (you may also want to mount kube config or pass env vars...)

$ alias oc='docker run --rm -it openshift-client oc'
$ oc version

Alternatively, you can use the Docker Hub automated build

$ docker pull ebits/openshift-client

Need to rebuild to fix security issue CVE-2019-5021

The image on dockerhub has been built 2 years ago with a frolvlad/alpine-glibc:latest image that still used Alpine 3.8.1 at that time. This image has vulnerability CVE-2019-5021 (https://alpinelinux.org/posts/Docker-image-vulnerability-CVE-2019-5021.html): it ships with an /etc/shadow that has a blank root password.

Please start a new build of the image, which will pull the latest version of alpine-glibc using Alpine:3.12 in which the CVE has been fixed.
