I'm getting this error, too. I'm running Arch with the same kernel as yours. My best guess is that someone's certificate expired recently and we're out of luck until they update it.

Well, it seems this is an issue with the latest node nodejs/node-v0.x-archive#8894 I tried the above with version 10.33_1 and I got past the CERT_UNTRUSTED error

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this was a node issue that will be fixed by upgrading to the latest 0.10.x version.
