macports-utils
contains the following utilities:

mp-checksums
: an utility to generate thechecksums
block of aPortfile
. -
mp-upgrade-all
: an utility to update MacPorts, upgrade all the installed packages and remove unused ports. -
port-gen
: an utility to create a Portfile from a template.
macports-utils
requires the following programs to be present on the ${PATH}
:
curl
openssl
port
zsh
A user who whishes to build this package should get a release
tarball. A release tarball contains everything a user needs to build
the package on his system, following the instructions detailed in the
Installation section below and the INSTALL
file.
A developer who wishes to modify this package should get the sources (either
from a source tarball or cloning the repository) and have the GNU Build System
installed on his machine. Please read README.gnu-build-system
to get further
details about how to bootstrap this package from sources on your machine.
Getting a copy of the source repository is not recommended unless you are a developer, you have the GNU Build System installed on your machine, and you know how to bootstrap it on the sources.

The syntax of mp-checksums
is the following:
$ mp-checksums (file)+
$ mp-checksums -h
$ mp-checksums -v
The available options are:
-h
: to show a usage message.-v
: to print the program version.
mp-checksums
accepts a list of files as a parameter and prints the
corresponding checksums
section:
$ mp-checksums my-file
checksums rmd160 4d7cb3439d5ffbc82ddd1c560dad6ceb99e8a296 \
sha256 d53c9d7e8b43e6b0ffe09272f4a10b17dd6691b8cabc1f21bf8b60f7f0522db8 \
size 1918
The syntax of mp-upgrade-all
is the following:
$ mp-upgrade-all
$ mp-upgrade-all -h
$ mp-upgrade-all -v
mp-upgrade-all
performs the following operations:
- Invoking
port selfupdate
. - Invoking
port upgrade outdated
. - Invoking
port clean installed
. - Invoking
port uninstall leaves inactive
until no matching ports are left. - Invoking
port reclaim -d
.
The syntax to invoke potfile-gen
is the following:
$ port-gen -h
$ port-gen (-v)? (--no-cache)? -u distfile_url
$ port-gen --version
The available options are:
--no-cache
: to always download the distfile.-h, --help
: to print a usage message.-u, --url
: to specify the distfile URL.-v, --verbose
: to print the summary of the outgoing changesets.--version
: to print the program version.
