community-edu's Issues

Licensing Conflict

The site says "Unless otherwise noted, all the materials on this site are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 4.0 Unported license."

But there are materials like this https://www.flickr.com/photos/soulnotes/16034053449/ which are copyright (not even open for use) and others that are by-sa 2.0 and nothing is noted to say otherwise.

So the site license conflicts with the materials which are licensed more restrictive. I would suggest removal of the copyright material because even if there is permission to use it... It conflicts with the repo license and is incompatible.

As for the by-sa 2.0 content I would suggest appropriate attribution https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Best_practices_for_attribution

Create list of tasks for closing Mozilla Comunity Edu

  1. This site will not be developed further for 2016
  2. We will be transitioning to use a solution co-designed with MoFo coming in Q2 I believe.
  3. We will link all curriculum in various states of development from here in the meantime. http://emmairwin.github.io/

Key questions:

  1. aside from curriculum which is linked from http://emmairwin.github.io/ what else do we want to save? For example the Personas are in the codebase, and not easy to move. Should we take screenshots ? Document in a blog post?
  2. How do we communicate this transition ? Who wants to do that?
  3. How do we shut it down? Do we leave a message where it used to be?
  4. Lets pick a date.

Personas: Ned - "poor work"

Is there a way we could change "poor work" into something more descriptive? This sounds quite irritating and demotivating for me. What do you think?

Edit the Readme to reflect the particular course in hand

Right now the README.md contains the stub generic details.
Please populate it with the course specific information & dev-env setup details for the contributors.

Maybe add a CONTRIBUTING.md with the guidelines, if the need be.

Too many clicks to get to submenu in responsive

We need fewer actions for sub menu in responsive which currently are:

  1. Click on icon which expands menu
  2. Click on parent item (reloads responsive view)
  3. Click on icon which expands menu (now we finally see sub menu)
  4. Click on sub menu.

Suggesting

1> Click on icon which expands menu
2. If top menu item was clicked, automatically display sub menu on page load.
3. User can click on sub menu
Basically this skips the double-responsive collapse scenerio.

Personas: Daphne - "gets shit done"

I know that we're using this quite a lot. I'm afraid that this could be offensive to people not used to it. What do you think? Could we change that into something that says the same thing, but doesn't use "shit"?

Make Drop Down Menu + Responsiveness Work

Twitter Bootstrap, the nav menu collapses with media queries.
Clicking on the nav icon, expands the menu, but not the subnav - and thus there is never a subnav in mobile.

I tried a LOT Of things to get around this, in part it might be because the top menu items are also links (vrs just clicks) . Similar topic here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11926028/bootstrap-dropdown-in-collapse but we are looking at bootstrap 3

For now I have set responsive to 1px to avoid this problem, but of course all that means now is you can see the menu in mobile, but there's no mobile view :S

need to figure out how to make sub menu display for responsive mode.

You can see the media variables I changed here: dbfa6f9

Distorsioned badges

On Desktop:

  1. Use Responsive Design View and set it between 992x1280 and 1197x1280

Actual result:

  • the badges get distorsioned on resolutions between 992x1280 and 1197x1280

Expected result:

  • the badges should zoom in zoom out proportionally so their look stays the same or if not zoomable should never change size.
