To run this locally:

• clone this repo
• run bundle install (you need ruby 2.1+ I think)
• run bundle exec jekyll serve to view the website at localhost:4000

Alternatively, you can run locally using nix. Simply run: nix-shell to serve the site at localhost:4000. If the dependencies have been updated, it may be necessary to run nix-shell -p bundix --run 'bundix' to update gemset.nix.

Options

See the global template options inside config.yml first thing.

Jackal also supports the following Front Matter options,

for pages:

• title (the page title)
• subtitle (the page h1)
• desc (for a SEO description /= excerpt)

for posts:

• microtitle (for a page title /= title)
• desc (for a manual excerpt and SEO description)

Invalid HTTPS

HTTPS on https://enthusiasticon.de still uses Github’s SSL. This will show a warning to the user. I’d suggest we put CloudFlare or a similar service in front of it!

Archive 2018 page

!!Con has subpages for past events: http://bangbangcon.com/2018/

We could do that, too, but from what I could tell it would require adjusting a lot of links to either point to the absolute path "/2018/...", or to make them relative.

An easier option could be to make a copy of this repository, call it "2018.enthusiasticon.de", and create a matching DNS entry. That way, all content could stay the way it is, and we could set up the 2019 version in this repo. What do you think?

Set up call for talk proposals for 2019

We could probably reuse the call from last year? And remove all of the programme/speaker content? And plug in the new dates/locations?
