Hi,

Sorry, I don't think I was clear in my directions.

Select the names you want to modify. Here I selected a range of names. Use the LMB.

image

Hit "Disable Selected".

image

You can get fancy and select ranges and individual items, all in one go.

Click on the first one to select with LMB. Then, while holding down CTRL+SHIFT, LMB click on another name. You'll see the selected range. Then click "Disable Selected".

image

Hitting CTRL-A will select all names. Then you can deselect the ones you want to keep. Then click "Disable Selected".

Easy to do. Do you want the selected list to persist for the next time you start Seer?

from seer.

Perhaps a way to create and select profiles? A profile would be a list of certain registers to show. There would be a default profile called All. You can create new ones and select which one to use throughout your debug session. These would persist for the next time Seer is used.

Would be nice.

Maybe add a button above the list which would give a way to add them back. Remove could be in context menu for example.

hrw avatar hrw commented on June 6, 2024

First profile would be "show basic registers" (eax, ebx etc on x86-64, x*, w*, v* etc on aarch64).

hrw avatar hrw commented on June 6, 2024

On aarch64 Seer shows 593 registers so profiles would be great addon.

Most of them are not needed during debugging.

On aarch64 Seer shows 593 registers

Wow!

I'll add profiles for sure. The notion of "basic" may need clarification. It's do-able. I just don't know what the basic ones are. But I can find out...

On x86-64 it is easy as gdb shows only what matters:

I've implemented the "register profile" feature.

Register profiles can be created. A profile selects which registers to actually show. Multiple profiles are allowed. You can create new ones and modify existing ones. There is one profile that is special. It's called 'allregisters'. It means show all registers. It can't be modified or deleted.

Switching between register profiles is easily done using the "Profile" list selector.

image

image

You can create/modify/delete profiles.

image

Creating or modifying a profile will bring up the profile editor where you can select which registers to show.

Seer remembers which profile. So it will use it the next time Seer is started.

"Disable selected" button does not uncheck enabled entries in "enabled" column.

With 592 entries it is easier to disable all and then enable those I want.
