diy-eurorack's Introduction

Erica Synths DIY Eurorack Modules

As Erica Synths discontinues its legacy DIY eurorack projects, we decided to make them open-source. We created Gerber files for PCB-made front panels and did slight changes in a module design in order to get rid of custom and rare components, still some modules require rare ICs which are available on www.ericasynths.lv. Each folder contains complete information and files to build a module: schematics, Gerber files for a front panel, Gerber files for PCBs, BOMs, component placement with values and designators and assembly manuals (please, note that some manuals are designed for older module versions). By making these projects opensource, Erica Synths is ok, if the third parties use them for personal, educational or commercial purposes. Erica Synths will not provide any support for these projects, please, refer to forums (www.muffwiggler.com) for information on build nuances, troubleshooting, part availability or alternatives.

Open-source projects are:

  • Bassline : all in one synth voice for acid basslines and drones.
  • BBD delay/flanger : all analogue effects unit based on V3205 BBD IC.
  • Delay : tape and digital delay unit with tap tempo, tempo sync, reverse, hold and add functions.
  • Dual VCA : Polivoks architecture inspired dual VCA, rare Russian differential opamps are now replaced with AS3360.
  • Envelope : recreation of Polivoks envelope generator with loop and end of attack functions.
  • MIDI-CV : Polivoks functionality inspired dual MIDI-CV converter with glide function.
  • Mixer : simple 3 chanel audio mixer.
  • Modulator : Polivoks functionality inspired LFO, noise and S&H module.
  • Output : Output module with headphone amplifier.
  • Polivoks VCF : authentic recreation of the Polivoks VCF.
  • Swamp : our take of Wogglebug module with lots of unique extras.
  • VCO3 : Polivoks inspired VCO with nice extra โ€“ VCO Sync input.

diy-eurorack's Issues

Request - BOM Parts Lists

There are several of the BOM parts lists that have unavailable parts, what is the best way to get an up-to-date list of parts for these modules?

VCO Octave scaling

I found that I couldn't get 5V at TP8 as per the calibration instructions and that the voltages didn't step in 1V steps as the switch is moved. I removed R87 (10M) and it worked fine. This was on a v2.2 board but the circuit is the same on v3.

VCOv3 BOM C23 missing pF units

On the BOM and schematic for the VCO v3 the value for C23 only says 5600 film.
I was able to find C23 on the VCO v2.1 BOM listed as 5600pF film.

Incorrect BOM and build guide for BASSLINE

Good day.

I believe that the build guide and BOM for the Erica Synth BASSLINE module are not up to date. The Board files appear to be a version 2 and contain resistors and dip pins that are neither present in the build guide nor the BOM downloaded from the official Erica Github.

image

Fore example resistors R177 and R178 are not marked as NU and have values next to them but neither the BOM nor the build guide have any mention or reference to these resistors. Same with R179 and R180 and a bunch more.

Is there a build guide and updated bom available for the version 2 somewhere?

open source the KICAD files?

Hi there,

where can I find the kicad files?
This would be really helpful to have them since some pcb suppliers need modified versions of the drill files (and there are some other issues too).

Cheers!
Konstantin

Dual VCA - calibration manual?

Hi! I can't calibrate my Dual VCA. I'm sending 10Vptp saw wave and can't set the same level on output. Is anyone have the same problem?

MIDI-CV source code

I'm very pleased you have open sourced this hardware. It would be good to do likewise with the MIDI-CV software. While you do provide the .hex file, that's of little use if one wants to address bugs or add new functionality. Please consider making the .ino/c++ source code available.

BASSLINE main pcb error

I'm not able to upload the zipped main gerber file to my pcb maker(jlcpcb). I've tryied merging the drill files, but no success. any idea on how to fix it?

test point voltages on DIY VCO

Hi. I recently finished building the VCO, just in time for support to end. ๐Ÿคฆ I'm getting no sound out of it so I'd like to check the voltages to figure out where it went wrong. Can someone please post the voltages at the test points? Thanks.

Unzip for better version control

If there happen to be any downstream improvements, the diffs will be impossible to see. I recommend these projects remain uncompressed in simple folders. Thanks

VCF Polyvoks / panel error

If you plan to manufacture both pcb and panel for polyvoks VCF, be aware that "in level" and "cv in" are flipped in the panel from the Gerber.
