About Us

Code for Asia Society Ltd. (http://codefor.asia) is headquartered in Singapore, and we believe that coding is the next-generation literacy. We organise workshops/hackathons/startathons to promote a culture of problem-based learning for diverse communities and develop impactful tech products.

The ideal Code for Asia developer is someone that is not only obsessed with code, but with making a difference in somebody else's life through technology and education as well.

Location

• Remote
• Singapore (for teaching stints)
• ASEAN countries - you'll be travelling on weekends and/or staying in to teach coding to the youths of ASEAN

Salary Expectation

• $500-880 USD / month, depending on experience
• Travel expenses paid for
• Possible options and equity stake

Requirements

• Passionate about using technology to make a real impact on communities
• Proficient in full-stack web development
• Global-minded with strong English skills
• Moves fast and loves learning
• The work will be 75% development, 25% assistance with operations and teaching

Skills

Must Have

• MEAN - MongoDB, Express.js, AngularJS and Node.js
• HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap
• Git
• Deployment on AWS

Ideally

• Experience with Continuous Integration
• Experience with Facebook API and other third-party APIs
• Passion for education

Responsibilities

We're counting on you to develop a product that people will love and to inspire the next generation of coders!

You’ll be responsible for

• Development of web and mobile platforms
• Implement site design
• Database architecture and design
• Working with the product owner / take Skype meetings to collaborate on the platform together and make active contributions
• Working with a distributed team effectively
• Testing
• Code review and refactoring
• Development and/or fine-tuning of teaching materials
• Traveling and teaching
• Ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction
