I originally did not want to pin the version for this exact reason, however unfortunately knurling-rs does not provide MSRV guarantees on patch releases, so without pinning the version it's possible for our MSRV guarantees to be broken by a patch release of defmt, which IMO is not really acceptable.
I'm happy to hear potential alternatives to this approach as well. I guess we will need to be a little more on the ball with regards to our libraries and defmt.
