Essentials Development Readme

The official repository is at: https://github.com/essentials/Essentials

We use NetBeans 7.3 for development.

Recommended NetBeans plugins:

Building

To build with Maven, use the command

mvn package dependency:copy

Jar files can then be found in the /jars folder

Commit Guidelines

Commits should fall into one of 3 areas:

  • [Feature]: Commits which are features should start with [Feature] and followed by a quick summary on the top line, followed by some extra details in the commit body.

  • [Fix]: Commits which fix bugs, or minor improvements to existing features should start with [Fix] and followed by a quick summary on the top line, followed by some extra details in the commit body.

  • Commits which fix bugs caused by previous commits (since last release), or otherwise make no functionality changes, should have no prefix. These will not be added to the project change log.

Coding Guidelines

Please follow the format guidelines that are saved in the project properties.

Windows users, please read this: http://help.github.com/line-endings/ The default line ending is LF.

To build all jars, select the EssentialsParent project and build that. You'll find all jars inside the jars folder.

Please only submit pull requests for the 2.x branch.

Bugs and issues can be submitted/found at https://essentials3.atlassian.net/

Other advice

Not all features are 'Essentials Ready'. Essentials is designed to cover the basic needs of Minecraft server administration, thus, we reject over 80% of feature requests that we deem are unsuitable.

Before developing an Essentials feature, we would recommend speaking to a developer in the Essentials IRC channel (#essentials on irc.esper.net). Click here if you have a IRC client.

Command Specification

Hello and sorry to bother you ๐Ÿ˜œ (I tired using Mibbit IRC but it disconnect me ๐Ÿ˜ž )

As you already know, I'm making a big effort to port this Bukkit plugin to PocketMine-MP servers; right now I'm having some challenges due to school and I can't develop as fast as I want and can.

Ok, now the main point: I want to know the specifications for the commands of Essentials (if possible, all of them), things like:

  • How many distance can a player reach to use /jump or /break?
  • What blocks can a player interact with to use /jump or /break?
    Or things like that :P

Greetings! :3

Port to Minecraft PE (PocketMine Servers)

Hi devs!

I'm iksaku, and I was working with @kvwang98 some time with his Essentials for Minecraft PE, but now I wanna get permission to make my own version (since he no longer works on it), I know that he got permission but I want to do this correctly.

Thanks!

Regarding porting

This has been asked before, but my way will be - different.

I would like to port Essentials to Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Now, I know that I am authorized to do so, so long as I abide by the license. But I was wondering if you wouldn't mind hosting the repo in the essentials organisation?

How my port will be different to the others, and worth hosting it here
My port will copy each and every chat message there is. Most of the current ports of Essentials use different or shortened chat mesages.

I will include as many features as possible to two different server software. Yes, you hear me right, PocketMine-MP and RedstoneLamp.

What features do you plan to include?

  • /kickall
  • /killall
  • /god
  • /heal
  • /feed (Once hunger is in server softwares)
  • /tpa
  • /tpaccept (And aliases)
  • /tpdeny (And aliases)
  • /tpall
  • /burn
  • /ci
  • /home
  • /sethome
The above will be for the first version!

Why host it in the essentials organisation on Github?
The question should be: why not? That way Essentials developers can contribute and people will know its not a scam like some of the ports I've found, as its on the official github.

_Thanks for reading and please get back to me As Soon As Possible_
