nationrelations's Issues

Integrate Travis CI

Travis CI is a good tool for seeing if the build is passing on any of the branches. It would be especially useful for a dev branch to make sure the build is valid before merging to master.

Pipeline does not log when computing aggregate

Currently, there is no informative logging when executing compute_all_aggregate_scores, such as telling us what country pair is currently being computed, progress, etc. There should also probably be logs for when the news API is being queried.

The purpose would be to allow someone to see the progress of the computation when executed on the server.

Legend is not informative

The legend on the map page does not inform the user about the color gradient used to reflect the scale of the relationship between countries

New data points are not regularly retrieved

We are currently only storing the first data set used to demo the service. Scripts must be created to appropriately query new news headlines and process them to be stored in the database.

Countries with zero data points are clickable

Countries that are not currently supported with a data set are still clickable and are highlighted when the cursor moves over them. This probably shouldn't happen to avoid misconceptions that the countries are supported with a data set.

This was solved before with 9aac49f but that led to the issue of countries turning blue when clicked, and @DanMossa suggested that new layers were actually being added to the map when non-supported countries were clicked.
