Overview

Structure of this applications are following.

Sample Applications Structure

Note: Other modules and directories

  • component, component-web, domain and screen modules are not Spring Boot Application. These modules provided common components to the Spring Boot Applications.
  • service-conf directory provide a conf file for OS Service such as the init.d.
  • www directory provide web content files for a Web Server such as the Apache.

Getting Started

If you are git user, clone this project using git clone command.

$ git clone https://github.com/kazuki43zoo/spring-boot-multi-sample.git

If you are not git user, download zip file form here and expand to any directory.

Build project

Build project using maven(./mvnw) command.

$ cd spring-boot-multi-sample
$ ./mvnw install

Register a service using following command. A fully executable jar include a startup script.

$ sudo ln -f -s ${HOME}/apps/${VERSION}/{artifact} /etc/init.d/{service-name}

e.g)

$ sudo ln -f -s ${HOME}/apps/1.0.0-SNAPSHOT/database.jar /etc/init.d/boot-db

How to control a service by manually

It used the service command.

$ sudo service {service-name} {option[start|stop|restart|force-reload|status|run]}

e.g)

$ sudo service boot-db start

How to startup a service by automatically

It used the chkconfig command.

$ sudo chkconfig --add {service-name}

e.g.)

$ sudo chkconfig --add boot-db

How to use the PostgreSQL

Create a PostgreSQL instance on Amazon RDS. About how to create a database, refer to http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/CHAP_GettingStarted.CreatingConnecting.PostgreSQL.html.

How to setup database objects and data

It use the sql-maven-plugin.

Add server settings of PostgreSQL in $HOME/.m2/settings.xml as follow.

<settings xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/SETTINGS/1.0.0"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/SETTINGS/1.0.0 https://maven.apache.org/xsd/settings-1.0.0.xsd">
    <servers>
        <server>
            <id>postgresql</id>
            <username>{username}</username>
            <password>{password}</password>
        </server>
    </servers>
</settings>

Note:

About how to encrypt a password, refer to https://maven.apache.org/guides/mini/guide-encryption.html.

For RDS

Execute the sql:execute command.

mvn -f database/pom.xml sql:execute (-P aws) (-Ddb.url=jdbc:postgresql://{host}(:{port})/{databaseName})

Note:

Please change the property value of db.url in database/pom.xml or override property value using -D option(-Ddb.url=jdbc:postgresql://{host}(:{port})/{databaseName}).

For localhost

It execute the sql:execute command.

mvn -f database/pom.xml sql:execute

How to modify connection pool settings

It create the application-mybatis.yml to override default settings on ${HOME}/apps/${VERSION} as follow.

spring:
  datasource:
    tomcat:
      driver-class-name: org.postgresql.Driver
      url: jdbc:postgresql://{host}(:{port})/{databaseName}
      username: {username}
      password: {password}

Note:

Spring has not been supported functionality to encrypt a password yet.

How to specify a credentials of Amazon SQS

It create the SqsCredentials.properties on ${HOME}/apps/${VERSION} as follow.

accessKey=xxxxxx
secretKey=yyyyyy

About access key and secret key, refer to http://docs.aws.amazon.com/general/latest/gr/aws-security-credentials.html#AccessKeys.

Apache Reverse Proxy Settings

This sample application use a Apache Reverse Proxy on EC2 instance of AWS.

Add settings for reverse proxy in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf.

# ...

ProxyRequests Off

<Proxy *>
    Order deny,allow
    Allow from all
</Proxy>

ProxyPass /db http://localhost:10000/db
ProxyPassReverse /db http://localhost:10000/db

ProxyPass /api-a http://localhost:9080/api-a
ProxyPassReverse /api-a http://localhost:9080/api-a

ProxyPass /api-c http://localhost:9082/api-c
ProxyPassReverse /api-c http://localhost:9082/api-c

ProxyPass /scr-t http://localhost:8081/scr-t
ProxyPassReverse /scr-t http://localhost:8081/scr-t

ProxyPass /scr-f http://localhost:8082/scr-f
ProxyPassReverse /scr-f http://localhost:8082/scr-f

ProxyPass /scr-j http://localhost:8083/scr-j
ProxyPassReverse /scr-j http://localhost:8083/scr-j

ProxyPass /jms-c http://localhost:20000/jms-j
ProxyPassReverse /jms-c http://localhost:20000/jms-c

Note: Preconditions

mod_proxy and mod_proxy_http should be loaded.

e.g.)

LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so
LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so

Spring Boot Startup Script in Fully executable jar

A fully executable jar include a startup script file as follow.

#!/bin/bash
#
#    .   ____          _            __ _ _
#   /\\ / ___'_ __ _ _(_)_ __  __ _ \ \ \ \
