A solo cup may be split into multiple regions of red due to reflections, hands, 
etc. We need an effective way of combining regions that represent 1 solo cup 
while not combining truly distinct regions. Especially difficult because solo 
cups often appear next to each other in photos and we do not want to combine 
two solo cups into one.

Need effective edge detection to help split combined regions, combine split 
regions, and prevent false identification on red pieces of photos. Match metric 
should include the registered image fitting edges defined on the input image.

The optimization often gets stuck at a 180 degree angle to upside down cups. We 
need a more effective way of preventing this problem. Also applies to sideways 
cups, although less so.
