I might be wrong but it seems that you have an issue with your HTML, would it be possible for you to share your email template so we can double check it?

From the output you posted, there is a missing space between the end of the href attribute and the style attribute:

You're right. I'm generating HTML emails wich can't be parsed with REXML. Any chance to just show the HTML in the browser without parsing?

We parse the HTML in order to make links open in a new window by adding a target="_blank" as we render emails on <iframe>s =/
