us.zoom.zoom's Issues

Google login is broken again

I don't know with which version it broke, but I was logged out with the last update, and can't log back in. I'm getting: Your login attempt was unsuccessful. Try again. If this occurs multiple times, contact IT support.

Having the same problem on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and Fedora Silverblue 31

Zoom does not inhibit screen from locking

I initially installed zoom using an RPM, then switched to the flatpak. What I noticed is that during a call with no keyboard/mouse input the screen will dim/blank. That did not happen with the RPM.

FWIW, I am using Gnome 3.34.

setxkbmap is missing

Hey!

When I try to share my screen, Zoom wants to use setxkbmap to configure the keyboard. As it is not included in Flatpak, I get:

sh: setxkbmap: command not found
sh: ibus: command not found
sh: setxkbmap: command not found
sh: ibus: command not found
sh: ibus: command not found
sh: ibus: command not found
sh: setxkbmap: command not found
sh: ibus: command not found
sh: ibus: command not found
sh: ibus: command not found

I suspect this is the cause on why some of my keys are not mapped correctly. Would it be possible to include setxkbmap?

Thanks.

The name org.freedesktop.Accounts was not provided by any .service files

Dear Maintainer, since yesterday (10/12) Zoom is not working with this error:

The name org.freedesktop.Accounts was not provided by any .service files

Hence I tried to uninstall an reinstall it but I got this error then:

Error: Error deploying: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.Accounts was not provided by any .service files
error: Failed to install us.zoom.Zoom: Error deploying: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.Accounts was not provided by any .service files

sudo flatpak repair did not solve the issue

My system:

lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID:	Debian
Description:	Debian GNU/Linux bullseye/sid
Release:	unstable
Codename:	sid

My flatpak version: Flatpak 1.8.2

Only English

Well, I'm not sure if it's possible or not, but my colleagues told me they can see the app in other languages... Is it possible it's missing lang packs?

Zoom isn't limited to only ~/Documents/Zoom

When sending a file or choosing a background, Zoom prompt me the file chooser, but the file chooser it's the normal one, not the restricted one:

Normal file chooser:
Normal File Chooser
I can access all my disk through this.

Restricted file chooser (OnlyOffice Flatpak example)
File Chooser with Restricted Access
It used to be like that a couple weeks ago, and it only allowed me the access to ~/Documents/Zoom.

I don't know if this happened due to a recent update, or what. Do you recommend me to roll back to another version, or is it something specific to my computer?

If it's worth something: OS: Kubuntu 20.04.1 LTS

Wayland platform not available

If the host has QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland, Zoom will fail to launch and dump core, as the Wayland platform plugin is not available.

Maybe the flatpak should set QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb?

There's no i386 package

I everybody !
There no i386 version of Zoom in Flatpak. On the official website, there's a .deb package in x64 and i386.
When the i386 will be done please ?

Unable to 'Join' when on Wayland

I'm on a Wayland session of the KDE Plasma desktop environment. Zoom works fine on an X11 session, but when I'm using a Wayland session, while it does start properly, clicking "Join" results in the nothing happening. The buttons are just greyed out.

When using the rpm directly, zoom has a tray icon. The tray icon is not there when using the flatpak version.

Single sign-on doesn't work in the embedded browser

Hi there. I'm a tech for a university that has started using Zoom for remote instruction and meetings. I am unable to sign in with SSO using the flatpak package. When I try, it pops up my university's sign in portal in its own small window, where I am able to successfully sign in, but then it displays a blank page with a long string of characters that looks like some sort of authentication token.

This works just fine on the official Debian package installed on Xubuntu 18.04. Notably, it does not prompt for sign-in in the same way. It opens up my browser. I sign in there, and then focus switches to Zoom where I am properly signed in. As a workaround, I wonder if I can copy my sign-in status from $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/zoom or whatever into the flatpak's config folder.

These lines of output in the terminal when running the flatpak version and failing to sign in seem relevant:

js: Failed to set referrer policy: The value 'strict-origin-when-cross-origin' is not one of 'no-referrer', 'no-referrer-when-downgrade', 'origin', 'origin-when-cross-origin', or 'unsafe-url'. The referrer policy has been left unchanged.
js: Error parsing a meta element's content: ';' is not a valid key-value pair separator. Please use ',' instead.

Is there a particular reason we don't just open the default browser to handle this?

Scaling Issues in this week's update

I have a high definition display (1920x1200) and Zoom looks massive. Just last week it scaled perfectly. It used to be massive 2-3 months ago and was fixed.

Running GNOME, Wayland, POP_OS. Hope this helps!

Opening via zoommtg does not reuse instance

Opening a zoommtg: URL (via redirection from the zoom.us website) starts a new instance each time instead of joining the meeting in an already running instance.

I guess Zoom exports some local communication interface but flatpak blocks the instances from talking.

SSO login does not work

This appears different than #169.

Reproduction

  1. Open Zoom
  2. Sign in with SSO (enter valid SSO domain and press Continue)
  3. Nothing happens, no SSO login opens anywhere, regardless of the value of embeddedBrowserForSSOLogin in zoomus.conf.

Logs

In Zoom stdout:

In journalctl:

Scaling broke on multi-monitor after recent update

Fedora 32/GNOME/Wayland: Got a notification from GNOME Software that Zoom had updated today. The UI starts on the primary display (external monitor) and looks ok, however when I move it to the secondary display (laptop panel, different resolution and higher pixel density) the app seems to be "overcompensating" by scaling up all its UI elements unnecessarily and not adjusting for window size, so much of the UI ends up cropped out of the window.

Can't select virtual video background

Could it be that there are restrictions that cause me not to be able to select virtual backgrounds?

It seems to no respond when I press Add Image.

Screen share does not show windows from some flatpak applications

When sharing my screen with Zoom, I noticed that certain Flatpak applications using an older GNOME runtime (org.gnome.Platform//3.28) were not visible for the recipient. This is the case both for sharing individual windows, and for sharing the desktop as a whole because of the way Zoom's screen sharing works. This is pretty obscure, unfortunately, because I couldn't find any easy to install applications like this. (This problem was with the learning apps built in to Endless OS, if you happen to be using that, but those aren't installable from Flathub at the moment). However, there is a broader issue here which may emerge in various places.

To reproduce, first you need to be running an X11 session. Open an application and start a Zoom screen share, sharing your whole desktop. Note whether the other application is visible to the recipient.

If it is visible, run the following command and then click on the application's main window:

xprop -format _NET_WM_PID 32c -set '_NET_WM_PID' 6

This sets the _NET_WM_PID window property to 6, which happens to be the same as Zoom's process ID inside of its sandbox. (You can run xprop and click on one of Zoom's own windows to see it has that property set to the same value).

Note that the window you were sharing is no longer visible for the recipient. You can unset the property using xprop -remove _NET_WM_PID, and the window will become visible again.

I believe what's happening is Zoom is trying to hide its own windows from the screen share by filtering windows based on their _NET_WM_PID property. The problem is that Zoom is running in a sandbox, and another application running in a sandbox is likely to have the same process ID inside its sandbox.

This issue does not occur with newer GTK applications because the library no longer sets the _NET_WM_PID property inside a sandbox. However, poking around with xprop, I see that Qt applications do. For example, with org.keepassxc.KeePassXC:

_NET_WM_PID(CARDINAL) = 3

It is simply a happy coincidence that Zoom's process ID is 6, whereas most Flatpak applications I have tried end up with a smaller process ID, or do not set _NET_WM_PID.

To resolve this, we could encourage Zoom's developers to filter their own windows in a different way, encourage Qt to do something similar to GTK where it doesn't set _NET_WM_PID inside a sandbox (which would also encourage the Zoom folks, eventually, seeing as they use Qt :b), or find a way to artificially change Zoom's process ID inside the flatpak to something unlikely to collide with another application.

Downloading files does not work

System: Fedora 32
DE: Gnome - Wayland

I'm unable to download files from the chat window. A folder for the meeting was created, but contains no files. It would also be nice to have the native filedialog (if possible) and preset the name of the file

Can not join meetings from calendar "Join" button

When logged in to Zoom, clicking the join button results in a window with only a white screen. I have to close this window and open the meeting link in my browser to be able to join the meeting.

Screensharing not working

Hi!
I'm using fedora 29 with wayland.

I see a message:

Can not start share, we only support wayland on GNOME with Ubuntu(17,18), Fedora(25 to 29), Debain9, openSUSE LEap 15, Arch Linux. ....

I have clean f29 setup, zoom installed as flatpack from dl.flathub.org

After removing flatpack and reinstalling from zoom.us/support/download, everything works, including google login.

Version is same: 2.6.149990.1216

Audible notifications for chat

My meeting audio works well, but I never get audible notifications for chat. Is this just me or a known issue? I haven't found a mention of this anywhere. It's a real pain when I'm walking around the house with my wireless headphones and can't hear my co-workers pinging me.
9/27 - I'm running Solus Budgie desktop, maybe I should be looking in there, since I do see visual popups.

I am using Flatpak version 1.6.3 on Alpine Linux with sway (Wayland).

Update to version 2.0.123200.0405

Installation from flathub fails because the source file was updated and the size and sha256 sum changed. The latest release is version 2.0.123200.0405.

The new values for the x86 architecture:
sha256 sum: 7f9c52752ba2b86e696da09821bb61b7fb5b4fc369b82005a581d7e2ba50dcc5
size: 64623412

i386 architecture:
sha256 sum: a325257ea1211908001248ad349ba57b957cbad9e3cb2c097027b273ac4757a2
size: 40537804

It would be great to automatize updating this data in order to assure that the flatpak is always installable. Are there any plans to do this?

PS: Thanks for creating this flatpak!

(Re)-asks for login every time.

Hi! I'm on Solus KDE X11 using the Zoom flatpak. It works awesome, except when I log in (with google), on next boot (not next start of the application, even if I kill from system tray), it will re ask for login. I can press sign in with google though, and then it doesn't even ask for credentials - just logs me in straightaway. I want to be always logged in as was the case when I was using the arch package on Manjaro. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Ubuntu interferes with Google-based sign-on (with workaround)

I don't know whether this is something Zoom is somehow doing 'wrong' in its interaction with Ubuntu's magic link sniffing system, but:

  1. I launch Zoom, and try to authenticate with a Google account.
  2. After a few seconds I see two notifications from Ubuntu saying 'accounts.google.com contacted, waiting for reply' and moments later Google opens a window saying 400. That's all we know.
  3. If I change Settings > Default Applications > Web Browser from 'in an application based on the contents of the url' to 'in the following application [Google Chrome]' and hit 'apply'
  4. NOW Google asks me to choose which account to use, and selecting the right one gets me in.

I don't know what Ubuntu's magic selector thing is doing, but my guess is that the problem is there, and not actually with Zoom: This same magic messes up link handling from Slack too.

Doesn't save recordings on non-english locales

Zoom doesn't use xdg-documents, it always writes recordings into ~/Documents/Zoom, which matches xdg-documents on english locales with default settings, but fails otherwise. It should have "--filesystem=~/Documents/Zoom:create" instead.
