By default this plugin does not distinguish, however, you could do that yourself in a script.

  return undefined;
}

const resolver = process.env.NODE_ENV === 'production' ? resolveProd : resolveDev;

I'll leave it open for an enhancement, because I think the factory function could also return an Array, i.e., making such scenarios easier to implement.
