What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  Run it

The script rereads the file multiple times causing the script to run slow.
 The attached file only reads the status.dat file once. it also stores much
more information, although it currently only writes out the same pieces as
the old version.

The one assumption the attached script does make is it assumes all hosts
will be listed before any of the services.
