How to Save ChatGPT Shared Content with Working Links

When you save a ChatGPT share link (or similar web app) as HTML, you often only get a “shell” and not the real content or working links. To save the actual content (with working links):

  • Best Method:
    1. Open the ChatGPT share link in your browser.
    2. Open the browser console (F12).
    3. Paste this code and press Enter:
      var html = document.documentElement.innerHTML;
      var blob = new Blob([html], {type:'text/html'});
      var a = document.createElement('a');
      a.href = URL.createObjectURL(blob);
      a.download = 'chatgpt-page.html';
      a.click();
      URL.revokeObjectURL(a.href);
    4. Open the downloaded chatgpt-page.html—links and content will appear as shown online.
    5. Note: For best results, make sure you’re viewing the content you want to save before running this.

If you only want the visible conversation:

  • Select it, copy, and paste into a Markdown editor or Notion/Evernote.
    This preserves links but may lose some styles.
