expansioncards's Issues

Yubikey type module

Would it be possible to have a Yubikey-like module for this as well?

I'm thinking something like this could be used to store LUKS encryption keys for the SSD as well as any SSH keys a user may have.

Would make it convenient to keep in the laptop while you are using it, while not having the risk of damaging a USB port while walking about. Also as a security feature when away from the laptop, just take the module with you.

What are the dimensions of the actual card (not the pcb)? / no mechanical drawings

Saw the Framework on HN the other day, very interested. As someone who is into electronics, I'm in love with this whole "design your own expansion card" thing. However- there are a couple of snags I've ran into-

  • It isn't immediately obvious how far the USB-C plug should stick out of the card. This would be very helpful info for using different parts for the USB connector, which is nice for flexibility (i'm thinking this guy should allow for taller components) and sourcing.

  • There aren't any mechanical drawings of the card itself. The 3D files are great, but a diagram with all the critical external dimensions including stuff like the rail would be very handy for designing a case from scratch in whatever tool we want.

  • How tall are the feet of the laptop (for any potential sticky outy bits)

This extra documentation would be awesome, I've got some ideas that would be really helped out.
