Which toolchain to use?

Hello, I'm having issues using the mentioned toolchain to build this kernel " sudo apt install gcc-aarch64-linux-gnu "

(cat /dev/null; cat drivers/block/zram/modules.order;) > drivers/block/modules.order aarch64-linux-gnu-ld.bfd -EL -r -o drivers/block/built-in.o drivers/block/loop.o drivers/block/zram/built-in.o make: *** [Makefile:1105: drivers] Error 2 Fatal error: script ./build_kernel.sh aborting at line 50, command "make V=1 CLANG_TRIPLE=$cross_compile CC=$cc_clang CROSS_COMPILE=$1 ARCH=$3 -j$2 $4" returned 2

The make command is returning with 2, and failing to build.

I believe it may have something to do with the cross-compilation, or clang because running make with no cross compilation works fine
