Edcast won't hold icecast setttings

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Add encoder
2.open encoder and chance settings to icecast server with HE-ACC
3.Click OK and main UI does not reflect the changes
4.Reopen encoder and none of the changes prebviously made are there.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I need it to hold the changes

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I have tried with 3.37.2011.1214 and 3.33.2011.1026 on windows 7 starter.

Please provide any additional information below.

random problem with the audio garbling then clearing up

I am using version 2011.1214 and at random times the audio will garble can
happen at random times in the day but only lasts a few minutes, 2 to 5 minutes
and clears up. I can disconnect and reconnect the encoder without clearing up
the problem, but I can restart ed-cast and it will clear up. I thought the
problem might be on my computer, but this week I installed another computer and
I am transmitting using both computer and the problem has migrated to the other
computer as well. i also thought it might be temporary bandwidth glitches, but
still not sure, have you ruin into this problem and or solution before?

Request: Add Server Type to Include ShoutCast 2

Firstly congratulations on picking up Edcast and continuing product
development. I had thought up to this point that Edcast was finished up
completely, which was a great shame since its a fine product, so it was sad not
to see any further development was going to be happening.
So, it was a very pleasant surprise indeed after finding your site that the end
of the road had not in fact been reached for Edcast.
I very much like the improvements you have made, so well done ! And keep up the
good work.

A Request for an Addition to Edcast.
In Configuration could you add another option to "Server Type"
namely to enable Edcast to be used with "ShoutCast2".
Mostly, from what I can see, this would require principally adding an input to
cover the SID (Source ID) being used.

Right now, your current version of Edcast works just fine on ShoutCast 2. I am
in fact using it this way.
BUT its restricted to only one stream, namely the default stream which is SID 1.
And its confined to ONLY one stream because of the inability to add a SID 2 or
SID 3 etc to it, which is vital.

If you want any further info, please contact me at
[email protected]

Cheers
Stuart Campbell

[feature request] Adjustable delay times for sending meta per encoder

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
As different encoders and bitrates send their meta data at different times, the
next song title appears before the next song's audio begins playing. it would
be nice to be able to delay the send per encoder to adjust for this timing
difference so each listener sees the song titles in sync with their audio.

Thanks.

Enhancment

Hello. Two suggestions for the upcoming v4. If not already being
added/considered

1. Have the window remember it's last closed location. So when restarted it
opens at the last closed location on the desktop.

2. Allow different inputs for each configured encoder. For example, my setup
right now is 3 scanners, 3 sounds cards and 3 different instances of edcast
running (each instance using a different mic input). I would be nice to have
one instance of edcast running that allowed 3 different configured encoders
each using a different mic input.

Thanks in advance.

Request: Continuous streaming option

Hi,

Would it be possible to add an option to the plugin versions, to keep streaming
alive - possibly streaming 'silence' - during pause and track changes?

My problem is that clients need to reconnect to the mount point every time my
playlist advances to the next track.

I tried to download the source code to see if this was an easy feature to
implement, or if it needs radical changes. Unfortunately, I couldn't download
anything from svn.

Thanks,
Rena

edcast standalone freezes..

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
3.33.2011.1026

Please provide any additional information below.

i have a virtual win xp sp2 box (vmware esxi).
i run virtual audio cable to create virtual sound cards...
there is a radio automation program which outputs its sound to virtual sound
card 1
there is a winamp running with sound solution dsp plugin to calibrate the
sound. takes as inpur virtual sound card 1 and outputs to virtual sound card 2.
finally there is edcast standalone, which streams to a local server (HE-AAC
256kbps), to a remote server (mp3 128kbps & HE-AAC 256kbps).
i noticed that, with all 3 encoders, when edcast tries to access the local
metadata file, freezes..
pc's cpu load is at 35% with 2 encoders, 45% with all three... the interval to
look for the metadata file is 20".

when it freezes, streams drop the bitrate, and a few seconds after they come to
normal..

bitrate dropping in windows 7 when configured for two encoders

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.windows 7 home premium and windows 7 ultimate
2.in compatibility mode running as administrator as to save the configurations
3.when two or more encoders are installed

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I have one 64k stream on icecast ( works fine ) If I add another for example
64k shoutcast, the two encoders immediately drop to about 20 to 25k problem is
not bandwidth and I can repeat this problem on two different computer, clones
using the same hardware just different OS's both windows 7 , one home premium

"Hickup" with edcast capturing sound, ie. bars go off and send silence less than 1 sec

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. having edcast open or streaming to server

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Streams fine, but occasionally bars go away, and same time silence is sent to
server. Winamp plays music continuously though.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
3.36 beta standalone, on windows 7 x64 home premium.

Please provide any additional information below.
Sound is coming all the time for edcast to capture, but somehow it occasionally
takes pause less than 1 sec.
Not sure if has something to do limiter?
I just testing limiter with 6dB gain, 0dB limit, 50uSec pre-emphasis that seems
ok for my configuration to boost a little bit some songs that have not been
normalized.

Suggestion: Error description.

Hi,

I was searching a cause, when the transmition doesn't connect, but didn't find
any error codes or description.

I think is a good idea to show the error when the transmition doesn't start or
suffers from low upload rates.

Example: Password Incorrect, Unable to reach server, and other stuff like that.

Regards.

enable.

request for window location adjustments

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. any power failure and restart of the computer

My radio is here in Guatemala and we have frequent power failures, edcast will
start up with the computer because it is in the startup menu, I have several
programs for the radio that auto start as well as my computer will auto start
after a power failure, how ever each program remembers where it resided before
the power failure eccept EDCAST wich always starts in the middle center of the
screen. I then have to reposition it to the left side of the screen so its not
on top of my other programs. what can be done so that EDCAST remembers it
location like the other programs?

Other programs that remember their place on the screen that I use are:
ZARARADIO, TEAMVIEWER 7, MY MUSIC FOLDER, WINDOWS SOUND MIXER ALL REMEMBER THE
LAST PLACE WHEN THE COMPUTER RESTARTS

preconfigured instalations, ideas

the posibility to block a field from the config file of single encoder
por example

NumberChannels = 1 <--- channel is set to 1 and can be changed
NumberChannels = [1] <-- channel is set to 1 and cant be changed

this can help to preconfigured installs, since normaly there are coperative
radios whit ppl coming in and out.

as example, i do a preconfigured intalation whit NSI, and there are fields i
dont wanted to change in the preconfigured encoder, like join stereo, sample
rate, codec, server, port, and mount point.

this is made cose they have to pass a test at first and the most of them have
never done it before, since range of age comes from 12 to 2x

also y dont know if there is a way to do a silent install of edcast
and/or to call it from other instaler
or if you, prefer that us do a all in one installer whit the configurations, or
a just configuration/encoder dll installer.

if i get more ideas about this i will put it in here

edcast stand alone 3.33.2011.1026.exe

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Install the 3.33. 2011.1026 version

What is the expected output? What do you hear instead?
I went back to the old edcast standalone 3.2.1 version again, because with your
new version, with no extra (new) options on, the playback through shoutcast got
an extra delay in time. Sometimes more than 40 seconds!

Now i'm using 3.2.1. again and difference in time of input (the radio pc) and
output (signal receiving through an internet radio) is 10 seconds again!

Also the adding of my shoutcast password with very long tags at the end of the
tags still are visible. So I think that problem is in shoutcast itself.

I'm sorry to report you this.
Regards, Hank.

Hi o/

I really miss that on Edcast. The best example is the statistics of the

[feature request] unique encoder names

A problem in edcast is to distinguish the different encoders, aspecially
shoutcast encoders. An easy way to avoid confusion is to use the mount point
field even for shoutcast streams, but a better way imho would be a stream name
field which is used internally by Edcast.

Metadata not supported with FLAC streaming

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add an encoder and set Ogg Flac as Encoder type
2. Connect to an icecast2 server
3. Set metadata through the edit function in edcast

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
No song title is being set on the icecast2 server. Changing the encoder type to
Ogg Vorbis or Mp3 makes it work, but FLAC won't.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Standalone, latest beta (3.37.2011.1214). Windows 7 64-bit. Also tried with the
winamp plugin earlier.

Please provide any additional information below.
I don't know if this is possible to fix, since I don't know if metadata is
supported in FLAC when streaming, but if it is, it would be very good to have
this feature working in edcast.

personalized users/passwords for Icecast2 mount points

ok, i made it a litle long so i will put the short part first:

add a way to change the source username in icecast2 streams

whi?... there you go...

i dont know there support for perzonalized user/password for icecast2 streams,
or how to use it in edcast if there is.

at icecast2 server is configured as

<mount>
        <mount-name>/stream.ogg</mount-name>
        <username>othersource</username>
        <password>hackmemore</password>
</mount>

if it nice if it is given support, i havent seen sources that give it
beside VLC (that is not very user friendly, but suport video streaming)

this plus fallback options, give administratos of the radio, a safe way to
temporaly "interrupt" transmitions.
next is the configuration to a /admin mount that "steals" the listeners from
/stream

<mount>
      <mount-name>/admin</mount-name>
      <fallback-mount>/stream</fallback-mount>
      <fallback-override>1</fallback-override>
      <hidden>1</hidden>
</mount>

but is a litle risky to have it, if is not private,

for the one that dont know, normal stream conection use "source" as user as
default:

http://source:source_password@host:port/mount

when is configured at mount it is:

http://mount_user:mount_password@host:port/mount
