The issue is related to the fact that in the GPT the two basic clocks, the 
bus_clk (pclk) to read the counter and the timer_clk to increment it, are 
asynchronous to each other. So the read very rarely may get incorrect values.
The solution consist to read more times the counter and discharging the 
unstable values (if any).
The attached patch implement this solution.
